Herb - I was hunting up this thread to post on it this morning. I am rather happy or relieved this morning. Basically, both my XM radios still have all the stations I listen to but joyfully this morning Sirius sends us an email and now Deep Tracks and the Loft (two of my XM favs) are now available on the Sirius radio in the car!

I see no reason to cancel, unless they screw with the programing! For now, I am OK with way it turned out.

You are one of the few.

Fred, Ethyl, Lucy, Fungus, Audiovisions, Fine Tuning, Boneyard, and X Country are vapor.

Welcome to Corporate FM radio, for a fee.

Check out Lucy's last breath, this guy was funny.

I sometimes listen(ed) to Fred, Ethel and Lucy, especially Lucy. Ditto with Fine Tuning.

Not sure I like the new line-up. I will give it some time.

If they would give me NFL on XM for no extra fee, I would certainly be happier. We don't get the Eagles up here in nawth joisey.

BTW, XM was somehow able to change the presets on my Garmin Zumo XM radio. How did they do that? For example, The Joint (reggae) was one of my presets. It changed to a different channel, and they were able to change the preset in my radio to the new channel. They also added "The Spa" as one of my presets, which I had to delete (yuck! new age music).

Well - I will continue with my assessment of 'so far, so good'. If fact, it was great to get in the wife's Sirius-equipped car tonight and have both Deep Tracks and The Loft! So, provided they don't screw up the format, I am a happy camper. Heck, Deep Tracks took The Vaults' (always a pale imitation, IMO) place on my presets, I didn't even have to enter it!

Of course, I sympathize with you other guys. If they had killed my favorites, I would be upset too. But for now, I got pretty much the best I could have hoped for with the merger. I guess it helps that I spend 80% of my time on one station and it is now on both!

Spa replaced Audiovisions. A great sleep preparation channel.

I canceled 3 of my 4 radios, and will run out a prepaid account credit for a few months. 6 years, 8 months, 29 days.
I learned my lesson, I won't buy hardware tied to a subscription service again. I now have paperweights.
(I got Roady2's for sale!)
It was fun while it lasted, on to the next big thing:

Archos 5 internet Media Tablet.

Image

It's a DVR, Wifi, internet, digital media player. Using software called Replay Radio that records internet radio, I can build hours of my favorite programming for free on Pandora and Last.fm, and record it. Plus I can Tivo television, and it plays the new HD 720p video files. I'm getting the 120gb model from Fat Santa (me), that should be plenty. It even has it's own On Demand movie service from any internet connection, with movie downloads for 2.99.

There are PO'd XM subscribers already rebuilding their lost channels on Last.fm.

Sorry to hear that some of my fellow XM folks lost favorite channels. I lost one in the transition (82 - The System, though still on streaming radio), but haven't been too disappointed in the revised lineup. For moto use and the daily drive, satellite radio has me hooked.

I am also evaluating Slacker, a user customized internet music service, with a hand held player.
It "remembers" your music tastes, and build music lists over time.

Many of the XM early adopters have jumped to it.

a bit OT, but I will add that the merger with Sirius seemed to create less variety.

Relatively long time Sirius listener. They ditched Sirius Disorder to make room for an ACDC channel. How much of a one trick pony station can one endure?

I find myself listening to NPR more and more.
And PLEASE, get the political comments off the music stations. I really really do not care what Meg Griffin thinks.

Still happy! Took a long trip over Thanksgiving and it was great to have my favorite XM stations on the Sirius in the car.

I will be the first to admit, I would feel different if they had not kept my personal favorites on XM and moved them to Sirius. It also helps that I listen to the same station 80% of the time and it is now on both. :P

The iPod route does not appeal to me, although I have one. I don't have an extensive collection (a non-vinyl one anyway! ) and have no desire to collect and maintain an iTune collection.

So until they change Deep Tracks or start commercials, I will stick around.
