May I ask why a fixed blade for those types of uses?
How big of a blade are you looking for in inches?
Do you definitely want serrations?

I can offer some advice if we can narrow down some of your interest.

Fixed blade: Because I just think they are cool. I want one so I'm looking for ways to use it.
Size: Probably smallish under 5 inch blade, maybe under 6 inches total because I have a small tank bag. I realize a concealed dagger is probably considered a weapon, that's why the neck knives are appealing. They're just smaller.
Serration: Yes, I find them most useful. I've been carrying that gerber (evo jr?) and serrations are a must.
Handle: I do not like Kraton handles, at least the ones on Gerber knives. Something cheap looking about them.

Do they have as good a selection in the store as they have online or are they just reselling from the Manufacturer warehouse?
I just bought a Damascus Chive from New Graham, they are an awesome place to buy from. Website could use some work, but their selection is top notch.

Since you are not camping or indicating hard use, I'd still go folder.
Benchmade Axis Lock Folders are awesome and save space.
Kershaw assist opening knives are cool if you are looking for something to impress your friends. Snap open like side full auto, but aren't.

Anywhoo......

Ok, Cool looking fixed with serrations.
No real 'planned' use, Just want something cool looking that won't suck.

I wholeheartedly agree! Very secure, yet very quick to use one-handed. And I did not know they may a Griptilian fixed blade. Nice.

Amy (my girlfriend) has that Benchmade Griptilian like Shaman pictured above, but with the folding handle. Great little knife.

Anyone else go into work with bare patches in the hair on the arms after sharpening your knife and testing the sharpness? I did today!

In the UK Knives are considered too evil so I had to take my folding Optinel knife out of my tank bag. When on a tour I would tend to use it for the socialy unacceptable behaviour of spreading Camembert cheese onto a bit of baguette

However I am fascinated by the craftmanship that goes into making some of the knives I have seen in shop windows in France and Germany and I own a small beretta folding knife and a Buck folding hunter which I used to use when I took cadets out into the woods. Awesome knife that keeps an edge like nothing else!

I'd love to build a collection but as I say, it's a no-no in the UK.

I didn't know knives were restricted in the UK. No guns, no knives.....as you said, collecting is fun reguardless of what people may think about the tools themselves. I've got a 4" Western boot knife that I never carry because the police in Washington State are afraid of any knife with a double edge.My favorite knife is probably my Spiderco Edura. 3 1/2" serrated blade. One of Spiderco's "clipit" series of folding knives.

They are not restricted in the sense that you need a licence, it's just that if you have so much as a small Swiss army knife in your pocket you are obviously either a terrorist or a gang member! The "Nanny State" is in full swing here.
