Maybe because I just did it, I say get GS handguards. I have been really impressed with how much better the grip heat works with these installed. I'm sorry it wasn't something I did five years ago.

OK, I cashed my christmas check and ordered a Kisan signalminder today.

Don't you just dig the joy of anticipation you get ordering stuff off the internet! Still have a couple of things on that list I want, but I need to spread the joy out some.

Another source for the Brake! Led is the Pirates Lair website. I've had one for almost 2 years. I'm on my second unit as the first one went bad within a month. I contacted the manufacturer (Homebody Design back then) and they shipped a new one, no questions asked, immediately.
I look at it as an investment in my safety.

I'm new to motorcycling (June 2007). Considering my inexperience I want an advantage if I can get it. My first accessory was the Olympia Air Jacket in high-viz yellow. I've seen others with the same or similar jacket and they stand out from at least 1/2 mile away.

I saw the BRAKE! display at my dealer and tried to purchase one through them, but they were having difficulty contacting the manufacturer. I ended up ordering mine through San Jose BMW in June. They also had issues contacting the manufacturer. It finally showed up in August. The running light alone is much brighter than the OEM brake light. When you hit the brakes it will hurt your eyes to look directly at it.

I also purchased the bag reflectors from San Jose. They add quite a bit of visability as well.

Now I'm thinking about driving lights. Has anyone purchased or have pictures of the RCU Designs light bar? Nevermind I found it here. I wonder why that didn't show up in the search results .

BTW, My dealer now has a BRAKE! light listed on e-bay. If I didn't already have one, I'd run over and buy it

Both of my suggestions have already been mentioned and should be part of any serious Boxer rider's inventory. The payback from the GS Handguards and a heated vest go "cha-ching" every time you're far away from home and it got cold too quick. Take the satisfaction you get from the heated grips and wrap it around your entire torso and neck. Heated clothing will change your cold weather riding experience in a way you cannot imagine. Soon as you feel the heat the big grin forms and new destinations are not only possible, they are desirable. That's what the $139 (+tax&Shiping) Gerbings vest will do for you - - - - even in Arkansas. The HandGuards also help in a 3 season downpour or in a crash - - - protecting your hands and the expensive to replace clutch/brake levers. I take mine off for Summer only. Even though your gift $$ has been spent, I'd put those 2 items plus the clear bag reflector film on the top of your must-haves list. They should even completely override the gotta-have Farkels list!!
