No luck last night, the first store I hit only had the vented ones. The Wal-Mart I went to didn't have an automotive section!? I'll do some more scouting this evening. Lots of little Mom-and-Pop auto stores around so I'm betting that I'll be able to find one. I'll also try a different Wally world and see if there's any luck.

The great Republic has succumbed to national pressure and the can you want will not be found in the larger chain stores. Not even the local Mom & Pop lawn care type outfits stock them anymore. Best chance would be leftover stock somewhere.

HOWEVER, I made a phone call to a friend and I think I've located 12 (new) 5 gallon cans. I can't get up there to check them out and get a picture of them until later today. I do not think they are the conventional kind like in your pictures, but they are:

5 gallons
3 choices of colors (as if you care)
Long hose (flexible) nozzle - about 18"
Vent cap in the back.

BUT - they are $42.99 each. Before I go to this location and start snapping photos, let me know if you want to spend that much on them (plus shipping - which I will let UPS do).

They also have 2 packages of vent caps left (1 cap/package for $5.00). If you had a cheap can without the back vent, couldn't you just drill a hole, and secure the cap with some of that stuff they use to patch up gas tanks?

Your dedication is admired.

I am not in need of that prestigious a Fuel Container, please do not bother to make that trip.

Thanks for trying.

Okay - it was no problem for me to check on it. I stopped by there before I heard from you though and got pics, so if anyone else is interested in these, let me know and I'll load the photos.

I found what looks like a deal in a cheapo catalog.
Used Swedish Jerry Cans.
Only $15 bucks plus $8 bucks for the nozzle.

The American versions are $30+ and as much for the nozzles.
Have to paint then red.
Hmmmm.....
