Replaced my Avon Azaros (about 16000kms) a great tyre, if a little rough initially due to thicker rubber, with Avon Storms.

With just 9000kms now the Storms are ready for changing. Although much of the 9k kms was fast highway stuff, I am disappointed that they have squared off quite so early.

Also, found the confidence in corners nowhere near as good as Azaros, with plenty of slips in the wet. Not good!

I wouldn't go for Storms again, but would the Azaros (if still available).

Could be time to try another brand?

Hope this helps.

I've had both the Azaro and the Storms now, the AZaro's were good for over 8K, I still had tread left but the back was squared off and the front was scalloped, I switched to the storms and found that they handle great, but appear to be wearing faster than the Azaro's, I'm only a little over 4K now and can see that the rear is beginning to square, I'd guess another 1-2K and I'll be needing a new set, (I guess I'll let you know in a next month). I went for the Storms based on the ads, I've been in the rain a couple of times with the Storms and didn't notice any traction issues, but then I didn't with the Azaro's either. I'm thinking about the M-3 or Z6 for the next set, as I've heard good things regarding tire wear and wet handling. My Wife is having a hard time with me needing three sets of tires each year for the bike, (I'm trying to cut back to only two)...

I got 5500 miles out of my Conti Attacks until the rear tire showed cords....I loved them, never had them break loose, I felt like I was a better rider. Commuting 100 miles/day half slab, half twisties I felt like I needed a little longer life out of the tire. Switched to the Diablo Strada 1700 miles ago and they are a different tire altogether. They don't seem to turn in quite as fast, but when headed straight or in a slight turn they feel "squirerrly" to me. I have had the pucker factor a few times on them, in particular on a high rev downshift. I had just left the house about a quarter mile back, saw the light at my left hand turn was yellow, goosed it and downshift just as I approached the intersection at substantial revs. The back tire drug for a second before it hooked back up. Might be me, but I try and beat that light every morning and the Attacks never did that. With that being said, I have down some 2 up touring fully loaded with tent, sleeping bags, fishing gear, sleeping pads..... and the strada's feel much more planted with a heavier load. Actually better than the Attacks did loaded up. Conclusion:

Conti Road Attacks SPORT-touring
Diabloe Strada's sprot-TOURING

I hope to have our house complete by the time the stradas are spent, if that's the case, my commute will drop to 20 miles from 100 and the attacks are going back on....

One more thing,

If you are going to hit some nasty off road stuff, the Strada's pattern is a better fit. The directions I had last weekend took me past a "END STATE MAINTENENCE" sign and through a creek. don't think the attacks would have faired as well.

I have the same dilema. Have been on the Michelin's for around 8,000 miles and am noticing that strange "hump" in the middle. Am toying between the z6's and the new pr2. Let me know what you decide and how you like them..........rt

Diablo's arrived and are being mounted this weekend. I like to ride on back roads in the boonies and they are frequently gravel and dirt, so the diablo's looked to be the best choice. I'll let you know how they feel after some miles on various types of road.
