Thanks fellows!
Nothing like a good storm to get the adrenaline flowing and keep me awake near the end of a long ride…. sometimes a storm can be good.
I like the lightning photo too, I knew I got it when it happened and that was exciting, unfortunately I had the aperture wide open and the bike is out of focus.
I fixed that and got this one, but the lightning bolts would not hit the ground again and I had to get moving.
And now Roadie is parked Stage Left, ready to perform once again…. though not on this stage, it's stage is much bigger - on a dash home once rehearsals are done.

Had to make a run up to Sacramento today, where it was 100 degrees. On the way back into SF, a bit cooler.

A couple of weeks ago I did a 4000 mile trip from Denver, CO to San Francisco, CA, Los Aangeles, CA and back to Denver, CO. I like using my old film Nikon camera so it takes a few weeks before i get my pictures developed scanned and can post them anywhere. I had a lot of fun on the trip took a lot of nice pictures, only some of them have my Kat'ka (my name for R12R) in a shot.
Hope you like it.

Desert and small salt lake in UT

Awesome Bamblys!
Looks like you had a great time riding in some beautiful places, you certainly are a brave soul visiting Death Valley this time of year.
I just arrived home from Chicago, I'll post up some photos once I get them uploaded.

Thank you sir.
The death valley almost killed me indeed. Got a heat stroke and b4 I got to the nearest town so I could cool off in a ac'd gas station, some construction workers closed the road for another hour. I bitched and threatened that I'll die right there on the spot unless they let me go past on a shoulder. They did.
Hey is it just me or this site is down for most of this week?

Right on, I just was riding in some hot weather myself, though not nearly as hot as DV... I heard it was like 125º+ in DV recently.....
I highly recommend a Cool Vest combined with a waterproof riding suit. Even in temps well above 100º it makes a huge difference, almost like cheating. In temps above 95º I also pour water down the sleeves of my jacket to help keep me cool.
Either way, good on ya for braving the heat to see a beautiful place like DV!
As I'm sure you experienced on your journey with your minimal packing, the gas mileage without hard bags is great, I averaged about 45mpg, 7mpg better than with hard bags.
What kind of mileage did you get?
Something like this:

In the end I did 50 mpg even.
You sure can find some nice roads. Great pictures so far.
I'll check out the link once I'm back on computer.

What a nice bunch of photos fellow riders.
We just returned from D2D and Ak. The R performed beautifully. The Scorpians lasted about 7500 miles and kept me upright on some slippery, muddy roads. We had maybe 6 or 7 days of partial sun during the whole month of June. Lots of record setting rain and cold. But such beautiful scenery and lots of very friendly people up there in the north country. Of course the wildlife was amazing.
A nice little campground in the Wind River,Wy area.
More to come. I may have to reduce my photos first.

This was a mighty squall coming straight at us (near Cody, Wy). The wind was really knocking me around, so I made an emergency stop. A few seconds later, with feet firmly planted, it pushed my bike right on it's side. Windshield, head cover, and saddlebag do not look new anymore. Not a great way to start an 8000 mile trip.
Jim Iverson fixed me up with a new set of Scorpians and sanded some of the scratches off. He's a good guy and has a tire changing business in Missoula, MT.

Champagne, Yukon - A nice little paved road, just off the main highway, which was all gravel, dust, and chuckholes. Turns out there's a LOT of poorly maintained roads up there. We just serviced the bike and all the fluids still looked good. The K&N filter took in lots of bugs and dirt, but didn't get past the filter.

This one's for you Joe. I've actually been meaning to take this shot for awhile. It should come as no surprise that this is the exit for Nick's BMW in DePere, WI. Obviously.
