Jack up the Seat.

So, that Rockster seat was really starting to annoy me. The basic problem is that it's not flat, so you're constantly sliding forward. Not a whole lot different than my CBR. Not quite as bad but close. So, I thunk and I thunk and here's what I thunk up. I bought about $2.20 worth of washers, and some longer screws, and jacked up my front seat support. The result... a flat seat





The family jewels were thanking me on the first ride.

There are some side effects of this approach, like the tabs on the front seat that slip into the little retainers on the tank are now useless, and there's more space between the front of my seat and the tank. No biggies far as I can see. Oh, yeah, inseamly challanged folks beware.

So, if you're fed up with the stock seat, and you have $5.00 to spare, give it a try. Use the big washers with the small holes. I used a 1" stack on each side.

Well...that looks like pretty good solution to a problem. I kind of had to go the other direction since I couldn't plant my feet flat on the pavement. I pulled off the little rubber thingys and ground off the posts, then drilled out two holes about an inch lower, welded two bolts in and cut them to size. Lowered the seat just enough that I'm not on tippy toes when stopped. Guess if I ever sell the bike to a taller person they can use your solution to move it back up.

I did the same thing. Except it was to lift the door on the walk-in cooler.

I don't get butt burn and the family jewels aren't getting crushed. Seriously, if you're considering a new seat, try this first and save yourself a few hundred bucks. Nuf said.

what length bolts are required and what diameter?

Not sure. I just took one out, brought it with me to a hardware store that had metric screws, matched the size and threads, and found one at least an inch longer.
