Rockster shocks on a Roadster?

Has anyone tried this? I am maxed out on the rear preload on my current shock, and I would like it to be a little stiffer. I was wondering if the Rockster shock would be an alternative to Ohlins?

I'd guess the difference would be too small to satisfy you. Go Ohlins.

When I had my R1150R I had the opportunity of buying a almost new set of Rockster shocks. When the bike had about 40K miles I swapped the shocks. The front is a hair shorter than the R1150R shock and the rear a bit taller, giving slightly faster steering. They were OK, but no Ohlins.

I am trying to avoid the inevitable. I will eventually get Ohlins, but I thought that I may have found a set of Rockster shocks cheap($200), and wondered if they work.

Who knows what I will do. But for the price of Ohlins, I could get liposuction, and that would allow my current preload settings to work better.

Have you checked into the price of BMW replacement shocks for your Oil Head yet? Do that and then tell me if the Ohlins are expensive. Not to mention you can squeeze an additional 5-8000miles out of the Ohlins before they go jumblies-up. Not to mention that you can rebuild the Ohlins for cheap. Not to mention...well, you get the point.

Yes it would. The bike will have sharper handling as previously mentioned.

I just happen to have a used set of Ohlins shocks for the Rockster, set up for a 215lb rider. They have about 8k miles on them. The front had a small leak and was rebuilt by Ohlins after I sold my bike. Has not been used since. I'll let them go for $800 if you're interested.

I just installed Ohlins on the rear of my Rockster.

Very pleased with dealer, price, quick shipping direct from Ohlins USA, easy install and set up perfectly right outta the box.

The front shock is still doing OK, but I'll get around to installing an Ohlins, sooner or later, up there as well.
