Netflix vs Blockbuster

So, my local Movie Gallery's selection simply stinks. I'm forever more hearing about a great movie (not new releases) then trying to find it at my local store with no success.

Been researching Netflix vs Blockbuster. It should be noted that I have no local Blockbuster to return movies to AND they're still going to have a limited selection so the Brick-n-Mortar tie in doesn't shine as a feature for me.

I've read some complaints about Blockbuster not honoring your queue and sending movies out of sequence, presumable due to availability. Netflix seems to honor your queue even if it requires shipping from a distro center further away. Netflix gets bagged for throttling back heavy users. I'd be interested in a 1-at-a-time plan and 2 per month for $5 seems like a deal.

I am leaning toward Netflix.

Does anyone here use the "friends" feature to share lists and recommendations?

Your opinions and experiences appreciated.

Netflix all the way. If you have any leanings toward the Art House or obscure kinda stuff they are far better. Actually all around their selection is significantly larger. And yes I have a few friends on there as well and it's cool to see what they are watching and what they thought of it.

+1 on the Netflix. Two and a half years ago while being home for 2 months recoverying from surgery. I did notice the movies came a little slower than usual toward the end. Other than that I have no complaints with them.

I did Netflix for a year, about 7 years ago. It was great for me. I burned out on watching movies though. I am sure the selection these days is so huge that it would be much better.

Netflix for me. I'm on the 3 at a time plan...about $20 with tax. I've been using it for about 3 years now. I was watching about 15 movies a month then they started that crap of slowing down my shipments when I was turning them around every day, but I threatened to join Blockbuster and kept complaining. Now it seems to be okay. Maybe I just slowed down watching films. Dunno.

The selection is great and I luckily have a dist center over in the same area as where I buy my printable tee shirts across town. It's a one-day turnaround if they are crackin'.
I was tempted by Blockbuster for the obvious reasons, but decided to stick with them for a little longer when the movies got back to arriving quicker.

We had Netflix, got rid of it. The main problem is the turnaround. You can't guarantee when you're going to get your movies. So, there your are sometimes, with some extra time, would like to watch a movie you ordered, but it hasn't gotten there yet. Then when it finally gets there maybe you don't have time to watch it... so it sits for a while. Course that will be true with any online service. But with blockbuster at least if I want to watch a movie tonight I can go get it tonight. Also, there have been many times that we get a DVD and it's bad, so then we have to return it, or we don't even know it's bad, then half was through the movie it wont play any more. Talk about annoying. If you don't have a Blockbuster near you then Netflix is better than nothing, but it's less than ideal.

We had Netflix for a while and I think the service and selection are great. My issue was that I just kept the movies and never watched them... "Oh, I'll watch it next week. A month goes by and I end up sending them back w/out watching them..." So, I don't use Netflix anymore...I need a return due date to make sure I watch a movie... That's just me, though, YMMV.
