Chi-Town: As of three days ago my dealer, BMW of Grand Rapids, MI. (200 miles from you) has three on the floor. Cristal grey, black with stripes and the matt grey.

Congrats Chitown. The black with the pinstripe was my first choice but couldn't wait till June to get one.

ChiTown
Good choice if you were already going to paint it, now you can leave the body black below the seat and only have to paint the tank. That's always been my favorite look.

Thanks, now I have even more second guessing to do. :D
But really, I already gave the go ahead and the dealer has already ordered bags and shield, insurance is taken care of, etc.
Now, no money has changed hands yet so obviously I can change things if I feel like, but I am getting a good deal, and I'm not sure I would back out of this deal.

Just like it has been said, there is something that's just right about a black BMW... I'm excited no matter what color really. I just can't wait to ride.

That;s a very nice looking /5. You should ride it to some Airhead rallies.

These are not my bikes, but a great example of the classic black BMW. This pic was posted by a member here, but I can't remember who.
I'm just trying to imagine a black 1200R with black fairing...

I'll own up to owning those two bikes. I've for some reason never gone to an Airhead rally ( Usually something Guzzi related going on at the same time) I do get the /5 to a few East coast local club rallies every year, and it's usually on Main Street during Bike Week. I'll admit to towing it down the last ten or twelve years.

A Black Parabellum with tinted shield is on the way for the R1200R and most likely a Remus Exhaust. I don't like the factory stripes so I got one without them. I took the advise of a friend on the stripes on the Heimrich tank on the /5 and it looks right. After the fairing is on we'll lay on some vinyl tape stripes and when it looks right he'll do it in paint.

I plan to ride the R1200R to the RA Rally at the Biltmore, in June. Is anyone else going to be there.?

Mogu...your Black Scout with a tinted shield will look gangbusters! Did you opt for two shields?

Seeing your other post I checked. The discount price is only for the 10" shield and you can order it anytime after you get the fairing. I'm intrested in a shorter shield (ordered 18") but I'll wait to see how the fairing works.

BTW: Thanks for your post about the 18" shield being 5" over the mirrors.
