Rick Mayer Seat

Post by crashfaster »

I just picked up a used Rick Mayer seat on CraigsList (only $150!!), and did a quick test run...
I have to say, I'm very impressed! I can already feel the additional height reducing the cramping in my legs, and the butt support is nice. Also, it looks great!
I'll update this post with thoughts after I go on a longer ride this weekend.

I took a 200 mile jaunt (round trip) this morning and I am pleased to report that the seat performed extremely well.

I had been suffering from two things with the stock seat that seem to have all but disappeared now.

After about 60-ish miles on the stock seat, my legs would start to cramp up (especially my left), and my tailbone would get sore. Neither of those symptoms appeared today.

I'll reserve final judgment until I go on a full weekend-long trip, but I have to say, I am very happy and really impressed with Rick's work (especially since the seat wasn't even made specifically for me). I would highly recommend him, seeing as how new I think his seats go for about half the cost of a Sargent, and they look a lot nicer than the Russel.

I agree on the seat. I had one made for me by Rick, nice work, nice guy, great seat. I did a 1500 mile weekend late last year, never had a second's worth of seat related issue. Nice looking bike. If mine wasn't sitting in my garage, I would have thought you stole it!! lol They are just about identical.
