Hello From the Philippine Islands

Post by triggerfish »

you guys are probably having a grand winter in your neck of the woods. There are at least 2 members here who hail from the islands of the Philippines. We have never had snow here and probably never will. So we're stuck with having to deal with riding our bikes 365 days a year.

I hope this picture taken in Camiguin island in Southern Philippines takes some of your winter blues away!

At 22 to 28 degree Centigrade, this is the loveliest time of the year in our usually hot and humid country, so we do make the most of it. We have 7107 islands (give or take a few during high tides and low tides), and shipping our bikes via roll-on roll-off ferries is part of our way of life. It goes without saying... it heightens our love affair with our beloved r1150rs!

Through these pictures, I hope to bring some of the tropics into your homes.

MABUHAY! !

With that many small islands, did you get a discount for not needing 4th, 5th and 6th gears?

Welcome. I like the crash bars and wish I'd fitted some when mine was newer. Can't see the point now that it's 'old' and I'm considering a change.

Nice countryside - Does the traffic ruin the mountain and coastal twisties?

Lots of good people here, so keep it going. A very international crew now.

Welcome to the board triggerfish! Love the engine guards as well. Wish we had a northern winter like you have. How long have you had your Roadster?

Nice pics! Looks rather...WARM, lol. My front yard is white and there's patchy ice everywhere on the roads overnight :( Oh well, I actually like the colder temps :) The denser air makes for better boost in the cage ;)

Traffic you say? :D

Admittedly, traffic can get really bad in some cities on some days. You just have to choose where and when and you're off to a great vacation! My buddy did a logo with the map of Mindanao (our 3rd biggest island), with our route highlighted. We called it the RoRong Way Round (a word play on that famous documentary Long Way Round) for our RoRos (roll on-roll off ferries).

Thank you guys for visiting. I've had the Roadster for 3 months, coming from a 650cs. My buddy created several amateur short ride videos we're understandly proud of. Here is one of them! Hope you like it. :D

Your right to be proud of that video, well done! However, how did you manage to make it without getting one shot of a jeepney in it? They were every where when I was there last.

Halfway on the clip, you'll see Triggerfish on his fast red R and behind him, me on my faster blue R.

Hi there! Here in the soggy UK I'm also stuck with riding 365 days a year! Well, not stuck with it as such, more that I'm so addicited I can't stand to leave it in the garage even when it snows! :D

Nice pics, lets see some more. Love that video!

Note the white lens blinkers. It's not really legal to use them but they're a lot less obvious than the blue and red lenses policemen have. I'd like to think that turning them on (very occasionally) had alerted people of my presence and saved my ass a number of times.

Tried taking pictures with my left hand in the rain, albeit clumsily. Wouldn't want to try this very often though.
