newbie with questions :)

Post by reyb »

I'll be looking at and most likely be buying a 2000 R1100R for $4500. Do you think it's too much? The bike has the following on it:

o windshield

o heated grips

o large diameter air intakes

o throttlemeister

o valve cover protector

o 26k miles

Is there anything I should specifically look for when inspecting it?

I plan to do a compression check. What kind of reading should I be getting?

Thanks,

Rey

26k is pretty low miles for an oilhead beemer, IMHO. I just turned 20K on my 2004 and have read of very, very high mileage on well maintained oilheads. Might be a real good buy if it has been properly maintained for those 26,000 miles.

If it has been taken care of properly, it should be a good bike. Low miles for the year. See if it has the service records.

The history is that he bought it from a dealership and put on approx 11k miles on it. Also, he supposedly has maintenance records. Anyone have an idea of compression? I'm pretty psyche to get it. :)
