anyone noticed this?

Post by Xray28 »

Yesterday returning home on a rather extended (for me) ride I had occasion to run downhill using engine braking for maybe a mile or so. It did a great job of keeping the bike at a sane speed, (this was in 3rd gear). When I finally decided it was safe to shift up to 4th. It was really hard to shift up. Once it did finally shift up everything went back to normal. I could shift up and down with my normal mindless ease. I use BMW synthetic lube in both trans and rear end. I haven't had occasion to try an extended downhill deceleration since.

I think if you had accelerated before you tried the upshift it would have released the back pressure on the gears and it prbably would have slipped right in.
