2004 R1150R-Should I buy?

Post by jfspring »

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum, but enjoy the time I have spent researching the R1150R. I have a question for you all and would like your input. I have a chance to purchase a 2004 R1150R naked with a luggage rack. Everything else on the bike is stock. It has 8500 miles and is on its 2nd owner. The bike is in perfect condition and color is red and does not have a scrach on it. The tires were replaced 500 miles ago. I can purchase the bike for $6800...Is it worth it?? Thanks for your advice.

I have a Red 04 non ABS with 15k miles. That is a good price. I would not sell mine for that :)

It sounds just like my bike and I would not sell mine for that price either. Go For it :D :D But be forwarned once it is in your garage you start hearing little voices saying "forget work lets go out and play"

Do it! I paid 6500 for my 2002 without ABS this spring. The best money ever spent on a bike!

I think he means is the price fair. Very fair.

I would try and get some history (service records!) on the bike since it's the second owner in a short time. Why is it for sale? What dealers have serviced the bike?

Having the rack for the cases is good too. As soon as you get addicted to the bike you can pick up the system cases for overnighters.

If the seller will let you ride it you are done asking questions anyway :)

If it drives well, it's a no brainer. I paid more for my '02 with 10,000 miles and ABS.
I ride, therefore I am.

Check it out. Go for a test ride. If all is in order BUY.
This is a fantastic bike, and I think more versatile than non-R riders would believe.

Sounds like a good price for a GREAT bike. This really is a great riding bike. You won't regret it and they don't even get broken in until 15,000-20,000 miles.
