As an Aussie, it must be tough to see someone as big time as Mel Gibson go down like this. He's a great actor...... But unfortunately he's also a previously suspected and now newly confirmed Douche Bag:(

And after throwing a phone into the face of a hotel employee, I'll have to throw Russell Crow into the D.B. category as well:((

But look at the bright side; when it comes to national disgraces, we Yanks have got Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few;)

People get drunk, then do and say stupid things every day. Yeah he's a public figure, but enough all ready.

A person, any person, can spend a lifetime doing good, only to have it all wiped away by making a public mistake, especially if any of that mistake gets caught on video. I don't get the whole celebrity thing anyway. When you get down to it aren't they all the same humans as we are?

I have to agree with DSKYZD, I'd be willing to bet 75% of the member on this board have said or done things intoxicated, that they regretted later. That doesn't make them dirt bags, just human. Mel certainly doesn't need to make apologies if he doesn't want to. He has enough money to tell the world to screw off. I suspect he really feels badly about his behavior or he wouldn't be trying to mend fences. In his case, kissing butt isn't necessary in order to survive.

I just don't understand the contents of what Mel Gibson said. Jews have been historic victims of others' aggression, not the starters of wars. I mean, can you think of another group of people who have been as pushed around as the Jews have been and managed to survive? The only other group I can think of that even comes remotely close are the Poles and Armenians. None of these groups have a track record of aggression. And no, the current shooting going on in southern Lebanon was started by Hezbollah.

I understand that a man of Gibson's lifestyle would find it easy to get drunk. But people will hold you to what you say and watch your actions. And the market will decide how much Mel will pay for his mistake. I for one am quite honestly ambivalent.

One more of you gets out of line, and Australia will be added to the axis of evil.

True enough, but as a public figure there is a responsiblity. Dennis Rodmen never thought (read: cared) about what effect his actions had on the young people who idolized him. Responsibilty. Mel has made a mistake, he's human, but...

Because of what he said while being arrested, Mel Gibson is clearly an extremely angry man. Who knows why?

And for whatever reason Jewish (I've never liked the term "Jews." It sounds kind of hateful) people are the focus of his rage. But if there were no Jewish people in the world, people like Gibson would just find someone else to hate.

In my opinion, the problem with those type of people lies within their brains and within their hearts. Who knows. Maybe he's mentally ill.

What do you think all of those folks in the Middle East would do if they didn't have Jewish people to hate? Do you think that they'd suddenly become industrious, productive citizens?? ... I doubt it. They probably wouldn't have a clue of what to do with themselves!

Jewish people are hated by some people for one main reason: jealousy.

Losers always hate winners.
