On the mounting bracket there appears to be some plugs for where the locking tongues may go. I poked around with a screw driver. They don't seem to wanna come out.
Anyone install their cases themselves? Tips?
I just don't wanna wreck anything.

Those 'plugs' are NOT plugs...if your mounting rails are anything like the ones for the Roadster.Marku wrote:I purchased some new system cases with the key lock things. My BMW dealer said they didn't have anyone who knew how to install them.My mistake for driving my bike there. Thought it would be easy.

Thanx for your imput guys.tr61976 wrote:I am pretty laughable as a mechanic and I did it myself. Assuming you are looking at the same things I am thinking of, there were plugs to be knocked out, the mounting bolts threaded into them. They were pretty tight as I remember, but I was able to reach through from the opposite side and knock them out with a thin punch. Although I don't like the look when they are on (wide) they allow me to carry rain gear so I can make my 80 RT commute more often on the rock.
On my rockster there clearly are plugs in the bracket. The locking tongues would snap off if i forced it for sure.jm1515 wrote: Those 'plugs' are NOT plugs...if your mounting rails are anything like the ones for the Roadster.
DON'T dig anything out!
I thought the locking 'tongues' should fit into some grooves/plugs also, but THEY DON'T.
They just push out and up against the bottom of the rail...friction fit, when you push down on the handle.
