Beakster Bash IV - May 18-20, 2007 - Marlinton, WV

East Coast Bash III
Mike, count me in next year. The schedule didn't work out for me this year, but WV and a T-shirt is calling me! What are the overflow options when the Inn is full? Do they have a manger or barn out back or are there some accomadations within walking distance?
The roads in WV are outstanding. I was riding and camping in the Catskills last weekend and found some roads that made me think of WV. The Catskills do not have the quantity or quality of riding that WV has. Great choice!
Kristi, take Cams advice and check out the Iron Butt link and look at the 29 tips for long distance riding and read some of the trip reports. If you decide to join us, I'd be glad to witness and sign your end of ride form. There are several of us that have completed the Saddle Sore 1,000 and the Bun Burner Gold. Your 19 hr 30 min estimate is an average speed of 65 mph including all stops. Very doable. The RR is a good bike for long trips. Hope to see you there. It is worth the trip.

Overflow
Tom,
Nelson overflows to another B&B in town, so 25 folks is within reason. There are 2 additional hotels in town so up to 50 is still reasonable. Snowshoe Ski Resort is 25 miles North and has about 3000 rooms available in May. So anyone can stay anywhere and be within striking distance of the Bash.
Also, camping of course.

pictures
As promised, I finally got around to posting some additional pictures from my time at the Old Clark Inn this weekend. This is a link to a Smugmug gallery with some commentary. I think this place will serve us well, with room even for those who don't stay there to come over for the long BS sessions!

I'm there.
This will be my 4th consecutive bash.
My map progam says 8 hours and 501 miles. With my naked bike, over 400 miles of it a boring, Metzeler eating superslab and 60 years under my belt (by May 2007) I'll be truck'n it again.

scottybooj,
I guess we'll meet again for another ride. If I remember right and I'm not confusing you with another Beakster, you're a connoisseur of beer(s)? If that's you, the nightly Bash BS sessions alone will be worth the trip. It's also fun to watch your interaction with the waitresses we encounter.

Rob:
I thought DJ was hosting the 2008 bash and he and MIXR were going to take us on MIXR's route.
If I can make it to the bash I would probably ride my bike. If I couldn't ride it, I would probably fly into the closest city and rent a bike. If I rode my bike it would be nice to hook up with some other board members along the way that are headed to the Bash as well.I'll likely be a last minute show up if Ii can come. But thanks for the advice.

Rob,
You are correct...I am a self appointed connoisseur of all things beer. I am looking forward to going.
Also, Rob, since you're in Georgia now, there are TONS of great roads to take up towards W.V. YOU ARE CRAZY TO TRAILER IT!
