When I bought my R, I dutifully followed the manual's advice about not letting the revs rise (much) above 4000 for the break-in period. Then I noted plenty of ride-it-like-you-stole-it advice on this board, and because I wanted the valves to seat correctly, etc., I dutifully road pushed the bike hard. Now I find that I shift in the 5000-5500 range most of the time and ride in the 4000-4500 range. I like the sense of readily available torque. With 11,000 miles on the clock, the oil consumption is slowing down, and the bike has always run great. I'm just seeking confirmation that I'm not riding it harder than is good for it. Any feedback appreciated.
