Sugar Bowl!! Rah Rah Rah!

Post by Boxer »

Any bets on who gonna take the Sugar Bowl tonight? I would take Georgia's side, since I live here, but oh my goodness, I am a Gator at heart and Gator's love to see Bulldogs get tromped.

First and foremost, I'm a Tennessee fan. Next, I'm an SEC fan. I'll always root for an SEC team, with the exception of Auburn (my domesticated partner is an Alabama alumnus). Next, I'm a fan of any team that's playing Notre Dame. I hate Notre Dame. So, Boxer, I'm for Ohio State right now and will be for Georgia tonight!

Been a pretty good day of football today. That Alabama / Texas Tech game was exciting. And, since you’re a Gator, how much did the Gators pay the referees in their game? They were the recipient of several bad calls in that one.

Ohio is ahead right now but there's 12 more minutes to go. A lot can be done by Notre Dame in 12 minutes.

Edited at 8:35: One down and one to go!

Not looking too good for the Dawgs. 27-0 to WVU.

The Buckeyes should have won by more than they did.

Nail-biter. WV could not stop GA pass game well. GA could not stop the run. 1st qtr-WV; 2nd-3rd qtr GA; 4th QTR draw. Close, well played game.

I have lost over half my predictions so here is a tentative final ranking...

2005-2006 CamFarm TOP 5 NCAA Division I Football

1. #2 Texas (defeated #1 USC 29-28 Rose Bowl)
2. #4 Ohio State (defeated #5 Notre Dame in Fiesta Bowl)
3. #1 USC (lost #2 Texas Rose Bowl)
4. #10 LSU (defeated #9 Miami in Peach Bowl)
5. #11 WV (defeated #8 Georgia in Sugar Bowl)

#3 Penn State (lost to #22 Florida State in Orange Bowl 17-6)
#6 Oregan did not play a bowl game.
#7 Auburn lost bowl game.
#12 VaTech defeated #15 Louisville in a sloppy game.

I'm a VA Tech fan first, then UVA, then Miami (the 3 ACC and/or Virginia schools). After that, it is some of the old Big East rivals like WVU, Syracuse, and Rutgers. Then my affiliations revert back to the ACC for the rest.

Having said that, I purposefully stayed up to watch the very end of the game (GO MOUNTAINEERS!) despite having to hit the road this morning to come up to the New York area.

9. #6 Oregan did not play a bowl game.
Cam;
I beg to differ. Oklahoma beat #6 Oregon in the Holiday bowl 17 -14.

I've been an OU fan since I was about 9 years old. Although they have the winningest record in this Millenium, A national championship and three total trips to the NC game, I have still been very disappointed in their play this year. This Holiday bowl victory over a very good PAC 10 team helps to heal some wounds.

I am pleased with the play of the Big 12 in the bowl season. All season the Big 12 has been talked down to. Mostly due to Oklahoma's dismal performances in the last two NC games. When it all shook down, the Big 12 had the best bowl season of all conferences plus a NC team.

For personal reasons I was elated to see USC lose. Pete Carrol and Matt Leinart finally had those smug looks knocked off of their faces.

I was happy to see the PAC 10 go down in general, although that UCLA comeback was very impressive.

Notre Dame could gain my admiration if they would join a conference and stop getting special preference. Until then, I am happy to see them lose.

The ACC. Lots of good teams. LSU is really good. Georgia has balls of steel, but it is hard to come back from 28 points down. WV is a very good team to have beaten Georgia.

The Big 10. Another good conference that doesn't get the respect that they deserve. Joe P is the man!

Vince Young. Man, those kind of players don't come around that often. Texas' defense bent and was almost broken. There O line played a great game and gave VY the opportunity to beat USC.

I love football!

Good Catch

Thanks for the fix. I was reading the sports pages too fast during the holidays.

Do you think OU would make a play for Rich Rodriguez as head coach?

Mike;
I think he is a great coach, but Stoops is pretty good too. Even if they weren't happy with Stoops, they couldn't stand the embarrassment of firing him after investing so much.

Actally, I hope WV keeps him. I like to see a small fish making waves in the big pond.
