Steel brake lines

Post by pdoege »

Has anyone else installed SS lines on their R?

I have had them on all of my other bikes. The brakes on my R are great, but they lack feel of the SS lines on my Guzzi, etc.

I found some at http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Spi ... EG-21.html

and I was going to have them installed when I get the leaking master cylinder replaced.

The original owner had put them on my Roadster before I bought the bike. Such a difference from my airhead that I swapped those lines out for braided SS too. Good move.

I think the Rockster has them, not the Roadster.

Just went out to check...it has 'em. I'm pretty sure I can recognize 'em cause I put them on my other bike.

Its an '03 Roadster...Canadian spec. ...am I being a dolt?

sometime early in 2004 (the calendar year not the model year) SS lines became standard equipment.

My 2003 r1150r does not have SS brake lines. it was manufactured in the fall of 2003 I bought it april 2004.

These are for a 1996 R, no SS lines on my bike now. I've ordered a set. They should get here in time for Christmas. Woot!

The SS lines on my R are twice as thick as the Goodridge lines I bought for my sportbike. Maybe its an ABS thing.

Anyways, this is a top modification, brake feel really improves over older rubber lines. Easy to do too!

A 9 year old R eh? I hope I'll keep mine even longer than that.

The ss brake lines have lmuch less "give" internal expansion that is than the rubber ones. The braking therefore should be crispier and more positive.

The braking action on the R's is already very, very good, but I do have to say nowhere near the one on my former Duc Monster 900 with SS lines

I just checked the manu. date on my bike - 04-03 - April 2003. Makes sense since I bought it in June 2003.
