Peeling paint on the tank of my Rockster...

Hey guys

So the paint, around where the gas cap is, is peeling on my rockster.
I dont spill gas during fueling up, at least not more than a couple of times/year, and mine is a 2004.

Is this a common problem? has anyone else seen this?
the pain is very soft, to a point where I can just rub my finger on it, and it'll just come off, and expose the white primer.

any ideas?

If yours is an 04 bike then it's still under warranty, get them to replace the tank - no question. Spilling the odd splash of petrol should have no effect, particularly as it is - a petrol tank! Mine gets the odd splash and I just wipe it off with paper kitchen roll and I've never seen evidence of the paint coming off onto the tissue.

I'm always splashing the stuff around, my fault for trying to squeze in as much as possible. But I've had no problems with the tank. To questions, what colour is the tank? And is there any way that brake fluid could drip from the hand controls on to the tank area? When parked on the side stand the brake or clutch can sit right over the tank.

Hey guys,

Yup. Its still under warranty. I hope they dont give me the run around...about this warranty thing. I'll talk to them, when I'm taking the bike in, to fix the heated grips under warranty. Hopefully they'll be receptive toward it.
