Please recommend a TALL good looking windshield

OK, I know this has been discussed to death but I need the latest recommendation for a tall windshield for a long trip I'm taking on my R1150R. I will be leaving for a 1000 mile trip next week and it will be cold I'm sure. I currently have the sport shield on my bike so I have the BMW brackets.

I am 6'4" tall and need the big mother but would like the best looking of the group.

Your problem is that you have a very short lead time. Cee Baileys ( http://www.ceebaileys.com ) are very nice and mount on the BMW hardware, but lead time is probably about two weeks. Try them, I heard a lot of good about their customer service, may be they can help you. To me the best, best looking, most expensive is the Parabellum Scout, but I'm pretty sure you would not get it in time.

The Aeroflow is an excellent product, nice looking and you can get it quickly. Just be forewarned that it requires putting the bracket on the handlebars above the triple clamp.
Gives excellent smooth air.
Even comes with what amounts to an equipment shelf to put across the upper brace (also makes the brace much less noticeable).

Must agree with DJ, although more vigorously... windshields are UGLY, and should be outlawed.

I'm sure someone will recommend a windshield for you, but rest assured it will be UGLY.

I don't disagree about the aesthetics of windshields...but long distance riding can be tortuous without the windbreak.

This is very subjective. What looks good to me, you may think is butt ugly.OTOH...

I wish I could get along without a windscreen because, like some others, I feel the bike looks better without one. However, practicality steps in and on road trips I like to have the wind thrown over me to some extent. I personally am happy with the BMW touring shield. I am not as tall as you though. The parabellum would be best I think but there again, it is, to me, uglier than the others mentioned.

Ah, yes - one of the most discussed subjects on this board.

Personally, from an aesthetics standpoint, I love the little BMW "Flyscreen", and I think it enhances the looks of the Roadster... Especially Atlanta Blue ones like mine, as the flyscreen has that slight blue tint.

Though I would prefer to never have more than that mounted on my R-1150-R, certain treks and trip mileages at healthy speeds (85-90 MPH for hours) can wear you thin with only the flyscreen or less... At least at my age!

That's where the "new" BMW tall windscreen pictured on my bike above comes in. It is absolutely *WONDERFUL* on the longer hauls. Smooth, buffet-free airflow around the helmet... No noise issues... Very solid and rigid mounting... And keeps just the right amount of windblast off one's torso so you can keep plugging down the road for miles and miles.

And to me, compared to all the other windscreens out there, it looks terrific. Due to the angle of the picture above, there it appears to be larger than it actually is. When mounted it reminds me so much of the large, neat-looking fairing "bubbles" that were on road race bikes of the '60's and '70's, and I like that look... A lot.

I thought I would be swapping back and forth between this screen and the flyscreen, but actually I like the looks so much I have only done the back-and-forth swap once, and the "new" screen is currently mounted on the Blue Beak for the Big Bend ride next week.

It's not cheap, but Chicago BMW has 'em (last I checked, anyway...), and I got mine in just a few days when I bought it. Takes about an hour to mount properly the first time, but after you get the drill down you can get it on or off in about 30 minutes...

At 5'10", the only complaint I have with my BMW touring shield is the level of noise. During most rides and under most conditions, it's not bad. Ride 8 hours on the interstate on somewhat of a windy day however, the noise wears on you.

Agreed. I think the R looks "strange" with cases but no windshield. No cases/no windshield? Gorgeous. Windshield/no cases? Great. Cases/no windshield? Wierd.

I have the Parabellum, and the looks are growing on me. Though the new "Tall" screen posted by Dallera looks nicer and the review interests me.

Thanks for the update on R windshields. Gives me ideas and options on the latest stuff available. I'm not a windshield kinda guy but in the rain and low temps of November I'm going to get one of these.

Sadly, regarding windshields, "tall" and "good looking" don't go together.

Regarding Victoria secret models it seems to work out rather well.

Biggums, I agree with most that windscreens are nasty looking--the bigger, the nastier. But, I think they're a necessity on long trips.

I bought a Parabellum (http://www.parabellum.com) and asked they cut it with an extra inch (to 24"). It looks like ass but performs very well, even though it comes with home-made-looking hardware. Preferring the naked look and feel of the R, I don't leave it on choosing to install it only for my big rides.

I have the touring screen and for the most part like it. I can easily see over it (5' 10").....find that it isn't too noisy, tho there is some buffeting at highway speed. It does deflect stuff up and over the helmet.
