No more R1150R's?

No more R1150R's?
In an unrelated conversation with someone at my dealership, he mentioned that there the R1150R's were being discontinued. Was I having a senior moment or did I hear him correctly? Is there going to be a replacement? or is the 800 going to fill the void? I think not.
Was I just confused, and did he mean that there were not going to be anymore non-ABS R's?

I believe we will see it. They've done the RT and the ST. Can't believe that BMW would forsake the pure R.Pat wrote:I'll believe it when I see it.

Dead last... by a whole bunch.Does anyone know how the sales numbers are for the R1150R compared to other models. I believe the GS is the top seller, but where does the R1150R fall?
From the last numbers I saw for BMW USA sales the GS series accounted for nearly half of R-bike sales, with the RT taking up the second largest, by far, percentage. The R-1100-S has the next slot in the pecking order, with the R-1150-R a distant, distant backmarker in the R-bike line-up.
Actually wouldn't surprise me if BMW doesn't bring another R-R bike to the US of A. Maybe elsewhere in other world markets.

I hope the Roadster will be around for many years to come, in either a 1150 or 1200 cc oilhead.

Surprising the R1150R is such a poor seller. I looked alot before choosing the Roadster, and after putting 44,000 miles on it, I still don't see what I would replace it with when ever I do but another one just like it. R-1150-R's...
I love my R-1150-R.
I really, really do. Oddly enough it reminds of another great all-arounder I had years ago (and am sorry I sold...
) - My 1982 Honda CB-900-F. The 900-F was ridden as a commuter, an around-town fun bike, a canyon-carver, touring bike (withone incredibly memorable cross-country jaunt to Daytona Motorcycle Speedweek) all over the country, a drag racer, street racer in top-end shootouts, and even road raced a season and a half in WERA/CRRC. It never broke, never whimpered, and won me a lot of races. Truly an exceptional motorcycle... But again, it's biggest downfall was serious long-distance work.
I am most definitely going to pop for a true sport-tourer (most likely a 2006 Yamaha FJR-1300-A at this point...), but keep the R-1150-R.
I have visions of it as my next project mount...
Wilbers or Ohlins suspension F & R... My full-boat Laser HotCam exhaust system... Wunderlich rear seat cowl/cover... No bag mounts or rack... tiny, tiny turnsignals (if any...)... true, sticky sport bike rubber... some *HUGE* six-piston front calipers... steel braided brake lines... seriously tacky brake pads... some head work (porting)... probably cams... more compression... maybe some Wunderlich billet head covers, or the carbon fiber Boxer cup covers... carbon belt cover... custom paint in McLaren Pumkin Kiwi orange, but done on the tank much like a BMW R-90-S with a faded in silver inset... pin-striping to set it off... painted flyscreen to match... darker color painted gearbox and engine cases, but with the cylinders silver... powder-coated or anodized wheels... As much weigh as I can carve off it... All sorts of stuff... Think in terms of a modern-day R-90-S, where you can still see all the mechanicals (no full fairing!).
Use it just for around-the-lake apex strafing runs and trailered Texas Hill Country rides. Nothing on it it doesn't need, and as myuch "Nakedness" as I can muster. *BIG*, booming noises out of it, too!
Sort of a "Hooligan" R-1150-R... With all I have learned about building engines and race bikes tossed in to make it a bit of a "sleeper" back road weapon, but one that can still be used around town...
Yeah! That's the ticket!
Then when the siren song of the long, long road calls I can leave it in the garage instead of feeling like I am making it do something it really never wanted to do... Instead I will be taking the FJR.

Last of the 1150Rs
Dealers and motorcycle media in Australia are advising the current 1150R is the last. There will be no more naked boxers. Sigh! 2002 Atlanta Blue looks like being a long-termer, much to the delight of the keeper of the purse. Could also become something of classic.

Sorry to say, I just heard the same today from a dealer here in NJ. 2005 is the last year for the R1150R. They also had a K122K on the floor, which is what somebody else said if the replacement. Certainly not the same bike or replacement.
There is some speculation that the two cylinders - 850 is coming to the US. Can anybody confirm that?

Take off the little fairing and clip that stuff underneath the rear of the tank...maybe put a "Beak"n it, and you've got yourself the new R1200R
