Gasline Antifreeze?

What's the appropriate product (if any) to put in the tank when the bike goes up for the winter?

I put Stabil in my Bassboat and ATV. Seems to do the trick. Not really a neccessity for the RR, because it's nice enough to ride the bike year round here in the DFW Metroplex.

JRC..Use the Yamaha Gas Treatment. Its the only one that's USGC (United States Coast Guard) approved. Why that's important I have no idea

, however, I have used it in antique bikes and the gas doesnt varnish. I don't have any experince with Stabil but its probaly ok also. The import thing is gasoline will go bad way faster than you think.
Be sure to add the fuel stablizer and THEN run the engine to circilate to treated fuel thru out the fuel system. I speak from experince on that one, and you don't want to go there, big old brain fart.

STABIL can be gotten at any auto parts store.
Here is the drill I use. When the season is near over, with about a half or 3/4 tank, put in the proper amount of Stabil. Then go fill the tank with fresh high test fuel. Then slosh around the tank. Then go ride the bike for ten for fifteen minutes to get the Stabil enhanced fuel through all the lines and injectors. Then you are ready for winter with a topped off tank.

Man, here in Florida (once the Hurricanes are done) the season is really just starting up! Biketoberfest in Daytona, all the local Ralleys, a nice trip planned to the Smokey Mountains: damn I love Fall / Winter!!!

If you feel the need to use some anti-freeze, keep in mind that there are two types out there. Methanol and isopropyl. Steer clear of the methanol kind even though it is a bit cheaper. It will absorb the water and lay in the bottom of the tank.

The isopropyl kind will absorb the water and then blend with the gas to be burned while you are out having fun.

Good advice on methanol. Methyl alcohol fueled vehicles require fuel systems made of stainless steel, special plastics & different O-rings & gasket materials.
I use an isopropyl alcohol fuel "dryer" a couple of times a year and/or after riding in a heavy rain.
If I'm storing a bike longer than a few weeks I use Stabil. Great stuff!
Keeping the gas tank full helps a LOT in avoiding condensation in the tank...ask any pilot.

I would not use gasline antifreeze if the bike won't be ridden at all. The Methanol types, over a long inactive period like winter storage, will break down to a weak Nitric Acid solution. That's not good for metal.
My Winter plan was to use Stabil in the tank and keep a 5 gallon container full with Stabil treated fuel so I could go for a ride anytime and top it off afterward.
