Clock Bulb?

Post by wbob »

My 2004 R1150R is over a year old, but I just rode it at night a week ago. I noticed that the clock was not lit up. I checked the BMW maintenance manual that came with the bike and it doesn't specifically list a bulb for the clock. I would hate to take off my windscreen and disassemble the housing and find that there is not supposed to be a bulb. Do your R1150R's have illuminated clocks? :?:

You should have received the proprietary BMW flashlight. It has a special German-engineered oral mounting device to facilitate holding it in your teeth while you ride. You turn it on and off with bite pressure, but it has to be calibrated at your dealer using a special device. They charge $350 for the calibration service. :D

Yes, of course the clock is lit. Perhaps this will help.

Thanks! The flashlight wasn't available. It was at the dealer for the required 600 mile service!

Clock bulb replacement

Post by Tampa guest »

I just did mine. If you don't have a windscreen in your way it is less than five minutes. Remove chrome screw on back of insturment cluster behind clock and pull the clock out through the front locate buld and replace.

Thanks for the details! A windscreen is in the way so it may take a little longer.
