Which is better? CRV3 Lithium battery or 2 NIMH rechargable batteries?

This would be for a digital camera.

Any battery pros out there in RR Beakdom?

Boxer, not a direct reply to your question.....I am using the rechargable ones. The initial outlay was not too bad for the charger either. At this point, i've recharged them probably 20+ times over a 2 year period and they still seem to do pretty well. Hope this helps.

NIMH in my opinion

MAHA/Powerex are by far the best - I've read tons of reviews and independent tests

Lithium has the most electromechanical potentil than any other metal. Lithium ion is alomost as potential, but still three times that of nickel/metal hydride reaction.

From a chemistry perspective, lithium is a far better choice. With that said, lithium-ion is relatively new to commercial use compared to nickel- cadmium or nickel-hydride. Sony is the front runner in lithium-ion technology. If you are buying a Sony product, trust the lithium. If not, check the statistics. lithium ion has no "memory" life cycle so it will last longer and charge to full capacity each time you charge it.

This is for an older Nikon digital...The 4100. The manual suggests using their own Coolpix NiMH batteries or the CRV3 Lithium battery, which looks like two AA batteries with plastic insulation around them. Apparently they are purchased as one battery, and I'm not sure if they are rechargable...but I think not.

Is there any reason that their Coolpix NiMH batteries would be any different than other NiMH batteries?

nickel-metalhydride will be the same between the two bateries. However, SOME batteries have an overload protection circuit. If you have the original batteries, you might check for that. If there is no circuit, any two double A batteries will work.

The CRV-3 is not to be recharged.

Like others have stated, they do last so much longer but cost about 10-12$. I often carry one as a backup for my rechargeables.
