I've got a small action video camera very similar to the GoPro. Mine is the CamOne Infinity. Actually a German company, that's what caught my eye in the first place. All of them seem to come with a waterproof "dive box". Actually I bought my camera to use with some RC aircraft models. Today I thought I'd try it out and mount it on my R. It came with all manner of mounts. But my problem I found today was about 5 minutes into the ride a small amount of moisture (fogging) appeared right in the middle of the lens cover of the dive box. The box is watertight to about 10 meters I think but this was apparently moisture inside when I closed the box door. I'm thinking I probably should have brought both the dive box and the camera inside(lower humidity) prior to closing the watertight door on the box. I also wondering if any of you have done anything similar with possibly a GoPro?
Here is a link to the camera. It's actually a bit smaller than the GoPro.

Re: Question concerning using video camera on the R
As you say - it'll be a touch of moisture in the box condensing on the lens (probably cold because it's in the airflow).
maybe leave it in a room with a dehumidifier overnight before use?
The other alternative is to keep the pressure relief valve (if it has one*) open so that the moisture can evaporate away.
* if you know you're never going to take it diving - drill a small hole in the case?

G'Day Tower,
Here http://goprouser.freeforums.org/how-do- ... t7955.html
is a link to a discussion on the GoPro forum regarding fogging. I have run into similar problems with my GoPro, especially on early mornings. I have not tried any of the solutions offered yet. I'll be off for a few cold morning rides next week and will see how the camera handles.
Good to see you are riding again.
Cheers,
Pete

Re: Question concerning using video camera on the R
Those little packets of desiccant that comes with many electronic devices come in handy for situations like yours. They have small bb's inside that absorb moisture. They can be 'recharged' in an electric toaster oven set to about 200-225 degrees for an hour. Some change color to indicate when they're good or need drying out. If you can find a small one that fits inside the waterproof case wtih the camera you're golden. If not, you can make your own pouch using coffee filter or tea bag material and tape, then it will be custom sized to suit!
Hope this helps.

Re: Question concerning using video camera on the R
I think my first course of action will be to let both sit in a dry, cool room overnite. If that doesn't take care of it I'll investigate the packets of desiccant. There is no pressure relief valve on the box.
Also I'll soon post a short video of one of my first rides in 3 years.
many thanks

Re: Question concerning using video camera on the R
Letting them both sit in a dry air-conditioned room prior to installing the camera did the trick. I should have known better. It's like replacing the battery on a water resistant watch. Done improperly and the face fogs up when you wear it.
Thanks guys. I'm experimenting on camera placement. I'll post a video as soon as I have one worth posting.

Good to hear.
I've placed a small camera on the left sidepod before now (remember I'm in the UK). Gave a very exciting view of filtering! (lane splitting).
I duct taped a pad of foam 2" thick to the side of the camera, then duct taped the whole thing to the sidepod. Worked very well for the view (no vibrations) - although engine noise was pretty unpleasant.
The other option I've used is a GoPro Hero in a couple of locations - including atop my helmet, on the top-box or rear light facing backwards. On the rear light facing forwards gives an interesting 'MotoGP' type view.
