Friends:
I have an 02 R1150R. Live in Ohio USA.
Over the past 2 years the bike has stalled out once or twice a season. Diagnosis was using inferior gas and not an additive like Startron. Seems to be a belief among mechanics that the ethanol in the gas attracts water, causing the injectors to foul the spark and stall the engine. Bike won't restart unless I let it sit a long time as it seems to flood when I try to restart it.
Same thing happened earlier this week. Put in Shell gas a a ton of Startron. Bike started and ran 5 min. Restarted bike and ran it 5 min. Next day started it twice, it ran, took it to the corner to top off the tank. Restarted bike after filling it and within 10 sec it stalled and I had to push it home [1 mi on a hot humid day].
Tried starting it a few times today and is won't stay running. Can't get it into a mechanic for 2 weeks. He's guessing it might be the pressure regulator, which looks like a total assache to replace.
I am not the most confident mechanic, but I have taken the tank off, wheels, done brakes, routine fluid changes. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Also, put in new fuel filter earlier this year, and fuel pump energizes properly.

Re: 02 R1150R stalling
Mike...thanks for the tips. I have never done a pressure check but I am willing to give it a try. I had some work done earlier this year on the bike and I believe they checked the injectors at that time.
Sheepishly, I must admit that I started pulling things apart to go after the obvious stuff and found a filthy K&N filter in the airbox. I kept the old paper one to use while the K&N dries when I clean it. Lo and behold, the bike started and ran for 5 min. Just did the same thing this morning. Not saying it's fixed until I road test it...but could it be as simple as that? Never had a vehicle perform poorly solely because of a dirty air filter.

Re: 02 R1150R stalling
Had a similar problem with my 02 R1150R. Finally after much failed troubleshooting diagnosis I accidently found what the problem was. While trying to figure out another problem (ABS lights) I had removed and replaced my fuel tank several times and one of the plastic fuel disconnect had broken but over a period of time enough fuel would trickle through (maybe via the other connection) and the bike would sometimes crank and run a few minutes, quit and not restart. To be sure that was my problem I removed the quick disconnect and put a solid copper pipe in its place and the bike has started and run properly for nearly a year now. Now, if only I can figure how to fix my ABS problem, lol.
Re: 02 R1150R stalling
ya, those plastic quick releases are poo...same on my Benz and they always break at the wrong time. I replaced a male end with the metal ones but should have done all of them. Using a piece of copper tubing...genius. Thanks.
