After vacuuming out various flora & fauna I fanned the leaves of the filter over a piece of paper and this is what I got -
And I don't ride in a particularly dusty or demanding environment.

I'm making my way through a 120000 km service and got up to replacing the air filter.

How long has that air filter been fitted to the bike?
I must admit after 20000 English miles my air filter was considerably worse than yours!
For what they cost and for what they do I change mine every year.

That's 20000km and 12 months worth of muck!How long has that air filter been fitted to the bike?
And of course there were the chunkier bits in the bottom of the airbox that disappeared into the vacuum cleaner.
And as I said, I ride in a benign environment.
It would be scary to see the contents of a filter from a hostile environment.
