Randomly while riding the engine on my R1100r shut down. It only happens during a down shift. Is this the dreaded Hall effect sensor? The bike always starts right up after this happens.
Thanks

Re: Engine randomly shuts off
This was happening to me (first bike, BMW and boxer) on the 1-2 downshift. I found the problem was my technique, not being smooth enough and generally being hamfisted with the controls. Do you blip on downshift? As I've really smoothed out shifting the boxer like it wants to be shifted, many of my problems have disappeared. They certainly do like to be spoken to in a specific way. Riding a friends Z1000 I was unhappy with the gearbox because it felt like there was nothing in it at all. He, of course thought my R1100R was using a box of gravel for a transmission.
I also had no caps on the vacuum ports on the throttle bodies and found the bike had better manners after putting some rubber brake bleeder covers on them (cheap and fit perfectly).
No offense meant by my comments, I've just found the loose nut between the bars and pegs was my problem!
