New to the site, new to the bike too... I love this bike

Post by scooterme »

Just saying a quick hello, I'm new to the bike and to the site. I picked up a beautiful used R12R with 35000 miles on it about 6 weeks ago. I just returned from a two week ride from Maine out to Wisconsin 2 up with my wife. Oh my goodness I love this bike, she's happy chugging along gently cruising but with a gentle poke she'll take off like a rocket.

hello, welcome and congrats
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects handlebars to the saddle.

Scooterme, WELCOME to the board, friend.
It sure is a great bike, isn't it !!?
From Maine to Wisconsin, and back? 2-up with th' wife? Wow!
Would be very interested to hear how she rates the passenger seat for comfort.
Are you using the OEM seat? My wife wasn't so pleased with it.
Many have switched to an after-market seat, and are happier.
What's the feedback from you and your better half ?

So, I bought the bike with the standard low seat, on this I had an airhawk on my seat and a gel pad on the wife's. I had no issues with seat discomfort, despite some very long riding days, my wife did want to be resting her can after maybe 150-200 miles, so a second airhawk is on order for her seat. I also have the RT top box on the bike which she loved for the back support.
Since the trip I have switched out the low seat for the standard height version which gives me a better knee angle, at 6"1' the low seat was a bit tight to say the least.
