Mail order "custom" seat?

New seat arrived Monday evening. Looks like Bill has done it again for me! The R12R needs little else but a decent seat IMO. I am ready to go now.

Well, I finally decided and went with Rich's... He got my seat on the 27th, and called me two days ago saying it was ready to ship. $550 delivered, with black leather. I should see it by Tuesday, and should be able to take advantage of the forcasted 60 deg weather on Wednesday. I'll post some photos when I get it.

Well, I got it on Tues, but as circumstances were, I haven't gotten the chance to ride yet. We are looking at high 50's today and tomorrow, so I expect to put a couple hundred miles on, and will post the results then.

Looks nice, but you can't judge a book... I'll report back.

Had a nice long ride today. I realize that they say that the seat will take 1000miles to break in, but all I can say is "wow". I know the BMW seat is vinyl covered misery, and a splintery, rusting morning star would make a more comfortable seat, but Rich did right by me. After almost 4 hours with only a stop for gas (didn't dismount) and a quick bio (did dismount for that...) I can honestly say I experienced one of those "forgot it was there" rides.

There may be better/more comfortable seats out there, but I don't need them. I was having such a good time, I totally forgot to take photos. But I will.

Rich's Custom Seats gets a big +1 in my book.
