side case parts drawing or photos

Post by swisswilliam »

Just bought used side cases but have apart to replace. Does anyone have a photo or drawing of the bottom latch assembly that locks the bags to the bike?

Look at MAX-BMW's parts fiche:

For the bags, look under Accessories & there will be parts explosions as well as part numbers & prices.

it is the latch that locks the bag on to the bike. the plastic part that comes up out of the bag broke off. can't seem to find a drawing show those parts.

I don't think those are available as separate parts. I think that is part of the bottom case part. Sadly, that's the expensive bit of the cases....

Try beemerboneyard They might be able to score you a used bottom case part for cheaper than a new replacement.

I think this is what you want. Part 23: (46547699847 SUPPORT) Go here and search the part number
http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/fiche.aspx

I hit a road hazard and broke both off and the cases bounced down the road, the dealer told the insurance company I needed new bags. Didn't cost me anything but I did ask for the now 'useless' bags. A little research and twenty bucks got me the parts to put the bags back in service. So for $20 I got a second set of bags (with scratched up lids).

BTW: Very easy to replace.

Look here for my photos of the case inners:

You could replace that part, if you can find the part or a donor case.
Too bad since I threw away my old inner case last month, with that part not broken.
