Center Stand for lowered r12r

Post by crewzzn88 »

Good day!

I lowered my 2008 R12R 1". Now I'm looking for a centerstand for my bike. I went to my local BMW shop and ordered part # 46 52 7 675 690. This is for the OEM standard height bike, I returned it! Then I ordered # 46 52 7 716 334, AGAIN, standard height centerstand. The parts person looked both parts up via microfiche.

Has anybody ordered the lowered version center stand? HELP!

I would remove the stand and have a welder cut to desired height and weld. I would then grind the welds. You can then paint or powder coat it. Would cost less than 50 bucks and be exactly the height you want.

Ok, I'm wrong. The second part # 46 52 7 716 334 is correct. The different in length is only half an inch.

G'Day,

I lowered my 07 with Wilbers by 30MM. From what I understand if you get the factory lowered bike it does not come with a centerstand option. With the Wilbers installed I had two attempts to shorten the stand. What I did was not only shorten the two legs on the stand but had the cross brace (round bar between the two legs) bent in almost a half circle so that when the stand was up the cross brace would fit around the exhaust allowing the to go all the way up without hitting the exhaust.

Hope this helps.

My 2010 factory lowered R12 came with a factory installed lowered center stand.

Hi Bruce,

I may have missed your previous post but with the factory lowered option are there any option not available like ESA etc. I am thinking about trading my 07 for a 11 classic and i am getting mixed info from dealers here in oz.

Sorry, I haven't had ESA on either bike. Can't answer your question. What does the BMW computer say?

I talked directly to BMW today because there seem to be confusion in dealerland re what you can and cannot have with a low suspension option fitted. What I found out is 2011 R12R Classic the low factory (suspension) option has been discontinued. However BMW have altered the height fitted with low seat to 760mm. This means the standard suspension offering on R12R with low seat is only 10mm heigher that the discontinued low suspension option (that included low seat) at 750mm. BMW reasoning for this was if you ordered the low suspension option you couldn't have ESA.

Just got this from BMW Germany and don"t know if it will help anyone:

------

Thank you for your e-mail.

Extra low seat (part no. 52 53 7 713 114), which is part of low suspension, and low seat
(part no. 52 53 7 698 379) have been offered for ‘06 and ’11 BMW R 1200 R. There are no
differences.

Kind Regards,
