Mirrors

Post by nylife »

I know this has been discussed on multiple occasions and all the parts are posted for the F800 swap
looking at the 2011 r models they seem to have new style mirrors but they do resemble the f800.
I spend some time in BMW parts Fiche and came up with the following parts for the 2011:

01 Mirrors 51 16 7 685 505
02 Cover 51 16 7 698 437
04 Adapter 51 16 7 698 694
05 COUNTER NUT 51 16 7 698 470

the pictures in parts catalog still show the old mirrors, while the parts are for the new, anyone do this swap yet?

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects handlebars to the saddle.

Yes. All you need are the mirrors (51 16 7 685 505), you can use the original parts to mount them.

Yes. As waynemathews said, "all you need are the mirrors."

Is is worth the swap? You get a larger field of view, a little less vibration, and a more open feeling dingle. The bike also IMHO looks a little better. So yes. YMMV.

FYI, the word that somehow got converted to ---- above is "c" "o" "c" "k" "p" "i" "t". Go figure.

+1 here. Did the swap and would not put the round stock mirrors back on ... one of the best farkles.

Chicago BMW usually has a 20-percent online discount, but they don't stock anything — usually a wait. The online transaction won't show the discount, but when they call to confirm the order, he'll quote you the reduced price. Shipping is not included.

I took mine off my 2011 after about 1,200 to 1,500 miles. There are probably a few smashed bugs on them but they are otherwise perfect. I'll sell them for $100 including shipping in the US.

100 is a bit high for them considering the dealer sells them as a pair for $80(not counting possible 20% discount from Chicago BMW)
if you willing to work with me a little, contact me via PM and maybe we can work something out.

thanks

Beware Chicago BMW is closing soon, as my boycott has obviously worked,
I received a call from the sales guy, telling me they are closing shop and most of the people are moving to a new dealer (without the douchebag service manager.)
He hoped that not having the SM around would change my strong hatred for that dealer. Not a chance.
