Could anyone recommend a sales price range for my R1150R?

Post by John H »

Hey folks,

I'm trying to determine what might be a proper asking price for my 2004 R1150R w/ ABS and system cases. Here's the breakdown:

- 2nd owner, and both the first owner and I are mellow riders.
- 24K, quite clean, no accidents, valve covers have been repaired, resprayed (a few standard drops), a few tank bag rubs, but otherwise no paint defects. The system cases are a bit faded, not pristine. The bike has been garaged for its entire existence but for 6-8 months.
- Most all maintenance has been done by the previous owner and myself according to the schedule. The only mechanical problem was for the heated grips. All maintenance is up to date with fresh fluids in wheel circuits, clutch, engine, drivetrain, valves are adjusted and matched. Will need new tires soon, but has good brake wear left. I have a detailed record of everything that was done along with fluid types.

Sorry, but I don't have a way to upload a pic!

I was thinking 5k, does this sounds about right? There isn't much on the market now to compare to...

Many thanks!!

There are a few places you could look that might help, keeping in mind
your location may have an effect on market value.

Try Trader Online, they've got a separate publication for bikes.

Also look in Kelly Blue Book, I don't know for sure but they might
include bike's.

And of course in the For Sale in this forum.

And on fleaBay.

And maybe the local Craig's List.

And I think your bank very well might have references that might help.

And check area newspaper want ads online, incl any large cities within reasonable distance.

Then of course factor in your mileage.

With the system cases you should be at least at a good starting point.
Of course it all depends on who's got money to spend on a bike, however
nice it is. You may want to try it about the time income tax refunds come
in. People spend it a little easier when it's in their hand.

Good luck!

My 2002 R1150R with ABS cost me $5000 last spring. It only had 10K miles, but it had no bags.
Yours should go quickly at $5000.

Local sales that I am aware of in central NC:

04 R1150R, pristine, 6k miles, dealer service records, no bags: $4200
02 R1150R, pristine, 24k miles, bags, non-working left heated grip: $4500

John H,

If you price it at $15,000-$18,000, you'll get to keep it longer!
