I have heard March, but that's mostly through the grapevine. I'll be talking to some people at the NY moto show on the 21st, I'll see if I can get any more info.

Where are you tucker? In Oz, two dealers have told me mid to late March... and my order is IN!

Interestingly, price here has been reduced by 5.1% possibly due to our recent strong $. Wonder how others will fare - let us know when you hear.

I get the impression you are excitedly keen MVK. Could it be that red is the colour of your new love?

When my '09 gets repaired and the rest of my broken frame heals and I see your review I may also be looking at a replacement for the '09.

I noticed a definite improvement from my '07 to my '09 particularly in the gearbox and with the ASC (which I didn't have on the '07) and it appears the '11 touring package will not only provide a little more punch but addresses a broader appeal for this extraordinary bike which until now could only be addressed by accessories shopping.

Does anybody know if dealers will offer the 'classic' without wire wheels (tube tyres don't appeal)?

I would love to see a white one with black pin-striping 'photoshopped'

Hi Members,

This is my first post on this forum. I have been a long time reader but given I havent owned a BMW before, I havent felt the need to impart my lack of knowledge on the product to those that know!! This is hopefully about to change! I have had the pleasure of riding one of the very last R1200R's to be found in Sydney and after a 45 minute ride, I placed a deposit on the new 2011 R1200R, price unknown, delivery status unknown. Delivery indicated as 'March 2011'
MVK I am interested in where you got your pricing info from. I am in contact with my dealer regularily and they havent given me any indication on pricing or a firm delivery date. It would be good if it were cheaper for sure.

Soooo, another "Test Ride Victim", . . . . hehe

Welcome to the club (still on my first 12K miles, first-time BMW owner that lucked into buying an R12R)

Cheers,

A little more than $100 more than the 2010. Interesting.

The first thing we do is stop looking at the US prices - sheesh, about 2/3 of the Oz prices. Good luck to you, folks.

FJM, I spoke to my dealer in St Peters today who quoted me an on-the-road price of $24,200. Because about 90% of r12s sell fully optioned, this apparently will be the only way they will be sold in Oz. Hence this includes all the goodies viz, ABS, ASC, ESA, TPM, small screen, centre stand, heated grips. It does not include rack or panniers.

Prices are definitely out so just push em hard, FJM. I don't understand their reluctance-just tell them you are also speaking to other dealers.

I have been told the first shipment will be on the boat within weeks with an ETA of the first few in late March. Who knows how many will be cuddled up in the containers? Time will tell...

So FJM are you up for a joint ride of 1,000km on the first weekend after we get our new babies to get those initial (relatively) boring km out of the way. I have a few twisty roads in mind...

Countin' down,

Michael

MVK, It makes you cry when you see the US price considering also the aussie dollar is close to parity. However, thats they way it is and as you said, the aussie bikes will come optioned as like before. These options I wanted anyway.

1000km joint ride no problem, time permitting.

Counting down also, but time is crawling along.

Cheers,
FJM

Mvk, ok an update. The other day, I received pricing similar to yours. Current status on delivery is late March. I also understand not all colours will be shipped with the first lot. Which colour are you going for? They will all be full spec bikes.

Hi fjm, I'm getting red of course (I'm over being the slowest-watch out Bodes...)

I have been told that the VIN for my bike has been allocated to me and hopefully mine will be in the first shipment but I won't hold my breath.

What colour are you getting and what dealer are you using?

MVK, First choice was the white (deposited $ for that colour), then decided on the matt grey. Problem is I heard last Friday that only the classic black, white and red are in the first shipment to Oz!!! WTF??? Wouldnt you produce and ship all colours on a new release? Apparently not! If I hold out for a grey, I reckon I will be waiting until April/May for second shipment.

That does seem crazy - a shame that you have to wait as I have the granite grey now and really like the colour but am going for a change. Keep hassling them,
