Fuel Strip

Post by jimjim »

I have recently purchased a 2009 R1200R. I have other bikes, but at this point this is my favorite. I have only one issue at this point. The fuel gauge seems almost completely useless. With the computer indicating 53 MPG, the miles remaining display seems to be indicating Kilometers remaining instead of miles. For example: I reset the trip odometer to zero after filling the tank. I also reset the mpg to zero. After riding for 123 miles, the distance to empty indicated 200. If the useable fuel is 4.75 gallans, at 53 mpg one should be able to run 251 miles. The miles to run should read around 128 miles. If you multiply the 200 by .6, you get 120 miles which seems to indicate that the display for miles to run is indicating in kilometers instead of miles. Has anyone of you had this experience?

Looks like you posted in the wrong forum. This is for R1100R bikes. For me, I only have a fuel warning light.
