Intra-ocular Lens Implants is what I believe that they are called. Quick, painless, permanent, and great vision. Didn't help a great deal with night vision or x-ray vision, though!
The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don’t have it.

Actchurlly.. mine did help with night vision. Depends on which one you get. The ring-focus ones are known to cause halos around lights. My focusing one doesn't do that - and since the cataract is now gone - that eye went from a dim image to a nice bright one. My night vision in that eye is now back to very good - and it's been a long time since I could say that.

After the intra-ocular lens implants implants, my vision is so perfect that my expectations of night vision are were way to lofty. My night vision improved dramatically, but it is not what it was when I was 20, ......well, I guess that I have to accept some concessions with advancing age. I do not have the self-focusing lenses , but one standard and one with the optional stigmatism correction. My long vision is 20/15 and 20/20 and I use 1.25 Walmart readers.....a big plus from 3-way progressive lenses. I really had this operation young, at 60 and it is fabulous because I was without glasses till I was 55 ( I HATED glasses). My aversion to wearing sunglasses in my youth (while enjoying many hours in the sun) and getting so much dirt in my eyes in 7 years of MX and off-road racing probably caused my eye damage and early, but minor, cataracts in one eye. Having the best vision w/o glasses is a monumental plus on the side of safe and effective technical riding.

I would recommend this to anyone who is considering same. Do NOT watch any videos of this op as you will never have it. I can assure you that it was painless and I was awake watching the entire operation as it happened.
