As I understand it (here in Oregon) you must prove that the signal was malfunctioning. I think, based on the variances, of such devices, that this may be very difficult.

Actually, I don't know about where others live, but around here, intersections that use cameras are generally very busy one's. The one's where I have problems are on the secondary roads... no camera's... So, I look around, if there's no cops I turn...
That doesn't change the fact that I really despise those cameras... the whole "big brother is watching" thing...
I should have mentioned this before...we can turn right on red here (in FL)) and I have had to do that when caught at a red light once in a great while, and then make a U-turn.
There are so many people running red lights here now that they are installing these cameras in central Florida, and have issued over 3500 tickets this past year (up from 1400 previous year) in Lakeland (as reported on the news). So many people have fought these tickets for one reason or another (wrong tag # reported, or the owner getting the ticket was not the driver, etc) that they are throwing a bunch of these citations out of court. The lesson here seems to be that if you don't want to pay the fine, complain.
