Project progress report:
16 out of 24 photos submitted as of today. 8 still to come as follows:
me (I know, embarassing)
vielzebub
Mogu83
FredeR1200Ric
BigEasy
jangwon5
ChiTown
simonwheeler
Deadline extended to Sunday 9th August
Full list of contributors signed up = 24:

20. simonwheeler (England)
21. Mark (Australia)
22. Mollygubber (Canada)
23. MJB (Canada)
24. gbagen (USA)
Will start the editing process next week. Surprisingly few have sent scenery photos. Presume the expectation was that "everyone will do that". The compositions so far are varied , which is good.
By the end of next week I hope to get all photos onto photobucket , then up load all 24 in a single post on the forum to allow you to browse and to comment.
I will then allow a week for any last minute changes before uploading to the calendar website. This means you have a few more days if you want to change your entry (but hopefully not, I think they are all fine as they are).
You will then be able to order your printed copy of the R1200R owners calendar direct from the printers, if you wish.

Ron,
Once again, thanks for all the hard work. I've got a new office in a couple of weeks and I've got the spot for the calendar picked out already so all the Harley guys can see it.

Am looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos. I, too, have a spot on the wall for the much anticipated calendar.

Spot on the wall already
....no pressure then!
Dont want to give anything away but some interesting compositions from the group. Everything from a close-up of a goose to the Sydney Harbour bridge...with a bike somewhere in there also.
All the fastest colours are also represented - blue, white, black, grey and of course the absolute fastest, silver.
Just need the stragglers (me included ) to add to the collection by Sunday and all will be revealed.

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( STATUS REPORT UPDATE)
Have reviewed the 18 or so photos received SO FAR and have come to the view that producing 2 calendars is probably not the best idea. I have another proposal for the group and would appreciate some feedback.
Although the original idea was to have all 24 owners bikes included in a 2 year calendar, in fact , it would suffice for each of us to have access to the full set of photos (I intend to put them on the forum) , and as a seperate exercise, select your favourite 12 for production into a one year calendar.
I still intend to produce a "SAMPLE" calendar version using what I consider to be the best 12 photos and people can have a copy of this if they wish. However, you can also create your own version if you prefer a different mix .
In this way, everyone's photo is included (which we all get a copy of) plus you can have a copy of the calendar I produce (to save you the hassle of doing it) or create your own from the full list of photos.
Your thoughts please?
Ron

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
Can we put 2 bikes per month
That way everyone makes the calendar, no one left out.
It's going to be hard to pick

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
There may be an issue with putting two bikes per month due to the dimensions of the pictures. Depending on the layout and composition of the image you may not be able to easily get two images on the page in a complimentary way. There is a lot more editing involved in trying to do something like that.
I think that Ron's suggestion to allow you to select the pictures that you like the best for the calendar is a good one. The series of images that he selects may end up being the ones that you like best as well...
Each person has different tastes in art (although we do share our love of the R1200R so we know that we have similar tastes when it comes to bikes)
Perhaps once we all see the pictures it will be easier to decide.

I like the idea of choosing what we want from all the photos posted by Ron for a 12 month calendar.

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
My original plan was to put them all together, and I did consider having 2 bikes per page (and may still try this later ). However, I think it will look better to have one photo per page, otherwise one will detract from the other. You will see what I mean when you see the photos.
Secondly, there is obviously some variability in the composition and quality of the photos for the simple reason that some people have better quality cameras than others plus the photo remit I have given is fairly loose. This variabilty doesn't matter when you have the full collection on your PC to browse at leisure - it's simply a collection of forum owner's bikes. However, in compiling the calendar, firstly it is obviously limited to just 12 photos (and I have more than that) and secondly, I think you would want to have some sort of theme for printed version plus have your favourite shots according to your individual taste.
I will do my best to select what I consider to the the best 12 but even I am struggling on this one since ther are more than 12 cracking photos of owners bikes. Then there is ChiTowns input, believe me, you could produce a 5 year calendar of quality with his alone!
Having said all this, nothing is in tablets of stone. I will press on and reveal the collection over the next days then await your comments. I will also look into the editing of all the photos to see if there is a neat way of presenting all in a single media.
Ron
ps remember to give me the location details of your photo, if you haven't already done so - a picture of your bike in a field is great , but slightly more interesting to know it's in some distant country

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
There may be only 23 pictures if my luck keeps up...
I was up at 5:00am to get a nice sunrise shot on the harbor and the bike wouldn't start.
Hopefully it's just the battery.
I'll be sure to send you something by Sunday Rocket, it just may not be current.
Finally, thanks for doing this. Like everyone else I'm super excited to see the photos.

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
Maybe we're getting a bit too excited. You know the problem with high expectations - the end result is often disappointing. Just because I like the photos being sent, doesn't mean you will.
However, if you like photos of the R12 from a poor angle on a wet cloudy day, slightly out of focus, too far away from the camera , dark, grainy and with a non-descript background, I 'm sure you'll be happy with it...oh, and December is missing...

...24 month calender? Just a thought. I'd like to see Rocket's 12 favorites too - I already know what my bike looks like, and I have no illusions as to my photographic skills.

Re: Photo Project for R1200R owners ( QUESTION FOR CONTRIBUTORS)
OK , despite not having all 24 photos in yet, I have had a go at selecting 12 hi def photos and put them in some sort of order as an "initial draft" for the proposed calendar for your comments.
I will, hopefully, post these for all to view this evening/tomorrow morning. Please feel free to comment.
I will not post the full collection just yet because this will take me ages. This first 12 is just a quick taster. Also, no names or locations on the photos yet, this will follow.
For those who have yet to submit, please continue, nothing is finalised yet, I just couldn't resist having a go.
(Please do not be offended if your photo is not in the initial 12, mine didn't make the cut either this time around. There are simply too many good photos, plus I may change the mix when all the phots are submitted and depending on peoples comments.)
