Let's talk bikini tops

Post by jfslater98 »

Sorry for the salacious title, I couldn't resist.

So I would like to get one of those half-covers, mainly to keep the rain off the seat. But I could see some advantage to keeping the sun from damaging the plastics as well, since it's parked outside a lot over the summer. I am looking for something that packs small.

Any suggestions from folks who use something like that for their R?

If you want to keep her seat dry I think you want a bikini bottom.

Forget where I saw it, but there's a small half cover that stores in the rear of the seat and then stretches forward to make almost a little tent. I thought it was a pretty neat idea but of course didn't bookmark the site #-o

How about a Tanga.....you can pack it inside your riding shades case. Is this the right answer?

Just saw one at the GMR. He was a vendor there. I think he said $60 for it. Fits over the seat and instruments and ties with stretchy-like cords that loop over pegs, etc around the bike. It fit pretty tight. It was called the motobikini, I believe. I have the guy's card at home but not here. A google search might turn it up.

Edit: Just found it: http://www.moto-bikini.com/

I found something at the local outdoor store that works for me. A backpack rain cover. Bought a Large, wish I had the XL but still stretches to cover the instruments, tank bag and seat. New they run about $30, I got a discontinued model for $10. Stuffs very small, in it's own stuff sack.

Check places like Campmor and Sierra Trading Post for backpack covers cheap.

Those Geza covers are really nice, but a bit pricey depending on the model...

You might try E-Z Touring...I got one of the bikini (!) styles for my 1100S, packs very small and is quite well made...

I believe they usually have a booth at the National Rallies...

Gentlemen,

Fantastic stuff, thank you one and all! The part of me that is proud to have moths flying out of my wallet loves Vann's backpack cover idea. But it's also good to know that if I want to tow my bike at 100mph, Geaza has me covered. Doc's concern over my ability to match my Nuke Suit is also handled by Boxer's link. Thanks for all the great choices, I will post back when I have rendered a choice, plus a review.

Here's the one you want:

Nelson-Rigg UV 2000

Cheap, works great, packs small. I have the large and it covers the headlight and fly screen, back to the taillight and the tops/upper sides of the side cases.
