(Please dont read on if you hope for something useful ,p)
THAT is what I passed riding home from work today. I just need to share my enthusiasm for this bike, so please dont judge me too harshly. I wont write with CAPS too much at least...
The point is, here in Norway it is legal to pass cars in the same lane or in between lanes as long as it is done in a "responsible manner". (I know this is not legal in all countries / states) Which means that everyone does it, all the time, basically. Even the cops on their white RT's. The biking season just started here up north, and "everyone" is riding for the first time in a very, very long time, wiggling along like noodles on two wheels. This means that the space between the cars is more or less filled with bikes, it seems. Especially elderly guys "walking" their massive tourers or unsteady harleys in bare 5 kph more than the cars. As I flick past them they get pissed and hit the horns. If they just had bothered looking in the mirror, alas! Is it really my fault my RR is so quiet they cant hear me with their onboard stereos blasting??
They should be happy they can get some more speed by following in my wake (the cars spread out, nudging away from the bikes as they pass, or just before if they pay attention in the mirrors) as they wont have to maneuver their mastodons just ride them straight ahead.
I dont often retake racing bikes, cause i dont really want to die so i try to ride at least a bit responsibly. Today i did though, but even he was a bit put off as the "flickability" (if that is a word i doubt, but its good) just wasnt up to it ;p
Again, pardon my youthful enthusiasm, Im only 38 ;p

I currently have a 1985 Honda Nighthawk 650...hoping to purchase an R1200R in the next month or so. I can imagine how much fun it will be riding it. I have a fun story from a couple of weeks ago. I was riding with two friends...one on an HD Ultra Classic Electraglide and the other on a VSTAR 1100. I was bringing up the rear...we were on a straight patch of road but I knew a nice set of twisites was coming up. I did not feel like following the guys on the twisties. So since the way was clear off I went past the two of them like they were standing still...at first they thought is was some guy on a sport bike blowing past them...then they realized it was me on the little baby bike...they just smilled knowing that I wanted to have a little more fun on the next set of curves...

Agreed about the Nighthawk.
I have two bikes, my Nighthawk CB700SC and the R1200R.
The R gets all the riding time now, but the Honda is still a beautiful bike. Never a problem, fun on the twisties, shaft drive, hydraulic lifters, lcd gear shift display and more. All circa 1984. I do think the Honda is prettier with it's little bikini fairing, but the R does everything well so my beloved Honda will probably go up for sale this year.
...you really are gonna love your new R.

Many, many Harley's on the road Saturday. Many, many more than any other marquee. One rice rocket passed me on a two-lane road, double yellow line, doing at least 100. I was in my Jeep, so no competitive juices flowed. I expected to see him down the road in a heap, but fortunately did not. I always wish those guys well, but think they're idiots, anyway. Like the 96 out of 100 Harley riders without helmets...
