I need a manual ( maybe free) for a 2004 Rockster with ABS

Post by dutchbikes »

Could anyone tell me where to locate a free downloadable manual for my 2004 Rockster with ABS?? I have been spending alot of money at the dealer and I feel I could do it cheaper myself. This is why I am seeking out a free manual......

Thanks

I object to that comment

if you want a book go to the libary it is not stealing
the new libary is the internet.
if you want to listen to a song tune into the radio

You may well object, but that does not make you right.

Copying anything but small excerpts of copyrighted material and then either selling or distributing them is a violation of copyright laws. That is a fact, whether you like it or not.

A library pays for its copy and then lends it to one person at a time. It does not make copies so that it can lend to multiple people at once. Libraries buy multiple copies of popular works for this purpose.

Listening to the radio is not an apt analogy. Artists are paid for radio airplay of their works. Listeners "pay" for hearing the work by also receiving advertising.

You are certainly right that the Internet is a sort of library. But that does not mean that nothing criminal is traded there. It is.

Copying and distributing copyrighted manuals deprives the copyright owner of the opportunity to sell their work. That amounts to theft. Just as illegally copying software does.

I think my moral compass is straight on that. And if a moral argument does not suffice, consider an economic one: As theft rises, prices rise or production ceases. If there is no benefit to creators of works, then they will stop creating, or at least stop publishing. Then you can just do without any manual at any price, and take your bike to an authorized dealer for every little thing.

Understood. I was not accusing you of such. But, you were offered a link to a place that appears to have violated copyrights. Either that, or they have generously purchased large numbers of licenses to distribute these works.

Many people do not understand copyright law, and its importance. I'm not accusing anyone here of being a theif. I am encouraging you to think about it, though, and to consider buying a manual through proper channels.

Just as some downloaders of "free" music have been sued by the copyright holders, so may be those who grab illegal copies of printed material. You wouldn't want to possess stolen goods, would you?

Reid - I just feel that paying over 100.00 usd for a manual that is on a cd is just wrong. I can see paying 75 or 80 usd for a paper manual. I did not think this topic would be such a problem.

I understand the basics of macroeconomics and would not want to subscribe to the criminal element. I just want to fix my bike after having a small mishap.......

regards all

thanks to all

You can buy a new Clymer manual that covers the Rockster for about $30.
