Ilmberger rear hugger , best price??

Post by ErikM »

OK I want/need a rear hugger. I've looked at all of them and the Ilmberger carbon fiber is really the nicest. The best price I found is $388.00 plus shipping from Sierra BMW.. It is criminally expensive but I haven't been able to find it for less. Does anyone have a source or idea for a better price?

And Don the price you stole yours off of ebay for doesn't count :-)

TRY NIPPY NORMANS - ENGLAND. ITS FIBERGALSS BUT IMO SUPERIOR TO ILL. -- IN THAT IT LOOKS JUST AS GOOD- IN FACT I THINK BETTER, MORE FUNCTIONAL AN A LOT CHEAPER. IVE BEEN SATISFIED WITH MINE. AN THE WIEGHT IS NOT A FACTOR IT IS EXCEEDINLY LIGHT.

I bought it and posted the pics. You can order it online and they ship it to you here in the US.

Here is the old post with pics:

The charge in US dollars on my Visa was $226.55 plus a bank imposed $2.26 foreign transaction fee.

SEEMS TO ME TOTAL COST SHIPPIN INCLUDED WAS 226-228. US DOLLAS. SHIPPIN WAS LIKE 25-30 BUX. ITS A GREAT REAR FENDER I HAD THE HOTS FOR THE ILL AN THE WUNDER BUT THE PRICE WAS BEYOND RIDICULOUS. WASNT MUCH ON FIRBERGLASS FOR A BIKE BUT UPON MORE EXAMINATION-- THAT UNIT IS FANTASTIC,, ULTRA THIN ULTRA LIGHT WIEGHT AN ACTUALLY FROM AN ENGINEERING PT OF VIEW MORE FUNCTIONAL THAN EITHER THE ILL OR THE WUNDER.

Question

When you install the hugger, do you have to remove the rear tire?

Thanks for the reply

Now, I will get a little nervous taking my rear tire off, but I can follow the manual.
By taking off the rear tire, I will also have to disconnect the Final Drive, and reinstall the Final Drive Fluid....right?

Ok...Thanks

I would like to get a hugger, so if the install in easy then I'm going to get one.

While reading the manual yesterday, I noticed that nothing was said about having to disconnect the Final Drive to remove the rear tire. I just thought that the rear is connected to the final drive, so the final drive would have to be disconnected.....guess I was wrong.

I will be ordering a rear hugger very soon.
I think it gives a nice look to the bike

Just an update, I bought the Nippy Norman hugger. Even after shipping costs (about $40.00) it ended up costing half of what the Ilmberger would have. I got it in about 4 days from the UK, fitted it this afternoon , fits perfectly and looks great. So big thumbs from me :-)
