Devon in April

Post by ROBOX »

Well at last the weather picked up in the UK and it was time to head out on the bike. The choice of routes were endless but I decided to head down to the West Country. I managed to finish work and hit the road at around 7.30pm. I figured I had about an hour of riding before it got to dark, maybe more as I was heading west. I had recently purchased a top box and wanted to know how the bike handled at speed and casually on the twisties.
So I loaded up the luggage gunned the bike, klonked into first and away.
My route took me down the M3 motorway and then onto the A303 west. I took it easy to start with as I was unsure about all the luggage, but as the confidence grew I cruised very nicely at 80-85 mph. I had about 180 mile to do that evening. I wanted to see what the range of the Roxster was but after 100 miles I was getting sore so took five and the opportunity to refuel. By now it was getting dark the roads had emptied and had a great 80 miles down to North Devon, where I stayed with my girlfriend and was met with a cold beer - much deserved.
The following day we both travelled down to Cornwall and took in some great sites of the North Devon/Cornwall coastline. The bike performed well on all roads, no complaints except for those awful mirrors that vibrate and distort whats behind - anybody got any ideas how to resolve this ?
On Sunday I left Devon in rain but rode into beautiful sun, I just wanted to keep going but reality beckoned by way of work on Monday morning.
Still my moto is to end a great ride with a plan for another. So next weekend is a public holiday in the UK and am off to Paignton South Devon for a bike show which is on all weekend - Bring it on !!

Hope you like the pics!!
