Luggage?

Post by twindave »

I am looking for more gear storage without having to use a backpack. I have side cases, but I will need far more storage than they allow.

I had this in mind: http://www.magsbags.com/grandtouringbag.html

Does anyone have experience using the Grand Touring Bag?

Any better solutions?

Thanks for any feedback,
Dave

I use Helen2wheels roll bags tied to the side case mounting rack with ROK straps. This combo works great and the bags are waterproof and quite durable.

I don't see some things fitting in a "U" shaped bag??? Tents can go alone. I had a Roadgear Jumbo Hauler that looked like a better bag IMO. Has anyone tried the waterproof duffel bag ala Cabelas or Campmor as a solution to extra storage. I need to replace the Roadgear bag(stolen-red/black if you see it for sale in TX!) and it has to fit/sit crossways, in front of the topcase on the pillion seat space. Ideas welcome!

I use the Seattle Sports side load bags, top load work as well just not as convient on the bike. Dry no matter what you can throw at them. Different sizes and the last forever. Try Sierra Trading Post for good deals or REI, NRS. I also use these for extended Sea Kayak expeditions NEVER had them leak in twelve years!

Easy answer-stuff! How about on my recent Mexico trip-I had oil, oil filter, tools, tire pump, tire repair kit, meds, sun screen, bug repellent, poo paper, clothes, locking cables, locks, shoes, shoes, water, towel, washcloth, info travel books, maps, trinkets and the list goes on and on. I am a light traveler, having been known to arrive at a hotel with a couple of hangers and a walmart bag when a business traveler in car. On bike I am also a light traveler and still find no problem needing more that the side bags for STUFF. We are talking travel to places where you don't just run in and buy something you forgot. It's not a new idea,is it?

I use them for tent, sleeping bags and of course my Kermit chair. Tenting does not have to be roughing it!
