I just came back from an 8 day trip where we did an Iron Butt run at the beginning. We actually put two of them together; 1000 miles in 24 hours and 1500 miles in 36 hours. Two of us left Fond Du Lac, WI at 5:30 am and arrived in Charleston, SC at 1:45 am that night. I was on the trusty R and my buddy was on a Yamaha Venture. I never thought I'd want to do one of these but the more we talked about it, the more interesting it sounded. I was amazed at how well I felt on the R after 20 hours!! That first day we logged about 1100 miles for the Saddlesore 1000 and on the second day, another 400 miles for the Bunburner 1500. So I guess we can get our certificates now and prove we're CRAZY
After the first 2 days of insanity we slowed down and spent a couple of days at the Ironhorse Lodge in Stecoah, NC riding the local roads in NC and TN. You guys who live in that area are really lucky to have those roads in your backyard

After we left NC and TN we ended up in Southeastern Ohio where I grew up and rode around on some really nice roads there.
It was a great trip and my bike proved itself again to be so versatile; a great highway cruiser and a sportbike in the twisties

Another thing I noticed was how little oil it used on the trip; about 1/2 a quart in 3500 miles. We ran hard on the second day in 95-100 degree heat too. The bike has 27000 miles on it so maybe it's broken in and is settled down.
I really love this bike
