MRA Meeting

Post by Ves »

Hello. Welcome to Motorcycle Riders Anonymous. Do we have any new members here?

My name is Ves. I'm an addict. I have not ridden for 2.5 weeks. But I must confess I still read this site daily and occasionally I go look at my motorcycles in the garage. It's really hard... :smt022

Can I get an "Amen"?

Hi, my name is Kyle and I'm a motorcycle addict.

My motorcycle has been is storage since 6 Nov, and already I have "throttle twitch".

I already have two boxes of farkles, to be installed over the winter! :smt038

But what will I do in January!?!?!?

Thank you for sharing Ves. I admire your courage for confronting your problem.

My name is Kirk, I also have a problem. I also read this site daily (but I tend to not read the Great Rides as that exacerbates my anxiety). I have only ridden once (to say hello to Boxer) since august. I would like to blame the weather but that is only a half truth. I am so perpetually tired that I feel that if I did ride I would be a danger to myself. I stay out of the garage as that tends to make me twitchy.
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

My name is Carol...I got it bad.
I have not ridden since November 11.

My life, my friends and my family all center around riding...
Lately I have been showing up late for work, missing appointments and disappointing my loved ones... while I look at images of bikes online.
I cruise this website daily looking for a quick fix.
I do it in secret. No one knows.

My parnter is a co-addict. He is an enabler. Taunting me with more bikes that we cannot afford. Posing hypothetical questions to me about dirt vs road bikes. He tosses around words like Testastretta just to provoke me.

When I try to quit, he buys magazines and leaves them in the bathroom.
He puts a copy of ON Magazine in the car when we go for drives.
When we are out of town, we got to bike shops...where no one knows us.

It's a dirty secret little world.

Apology accepted.... isn't that one of the signs of an addiction.... things like sex no longer matter?

Wait...no.... that's depression...

Hello, my name is Ves, I'm a depressed motorcycle addict....

Another confession... I'm perusing craigslist looking for more motorcycles... Who can save me from this vicious cycle?

Thanksgiving day has come and gone
And here I sit inside my home
It’s 23 degrees outside
No I wont be going for a ride

No ride today… no ride tomorrow
No ride months from now
Oh, the depression oh the sorrow

I go to the garage to talk to her
But she doesn’t say a word to me
Just sits there one eye squinting
Staring coldly back at me

Buy some new equipment and go ski?
She says you can’t do that
That’s money you need to go on trips with me!

Go back to your computer and surf the web
R1150R.net always has a good thread
If that doesn’t work buy me some stuff
Farkles, I can never get enough

I go back inside and stare at the screen
Click on “new posts”… some stuff I haven’t seen!
For a moment I forget I’m waiting
Waiting for the trees to turn green

But does she have her own machine or ride pillion?

Is she a speed freak or a corkscrew addict?

Roadster, rocket or cruiser?

By the time I figure it all out, it'll be spring, and I'll be riding again! :smt102

My Name is Carol --- and I got it baaaad.
I am a depressed, obsessive motorcycle addict
It has been 17 days since my last ride.

Last night in my most private space.... I read that GypsyRR's car got totalled, felt her pain. Happy that her loved one is OK.
...then I surfed the web and sent out notices to all my moto-friends about upcoming motorcycle shows in our area.

It made me feel gooooood.

This morning I did some work for our local BMW riders club, then I communicated with a rider from this site from South Africa....sharing a moment of pleasure as I prepare to ship a 'snoopy mascot' for that riders bike.

It made me feel gooooood.

then I checked sheridesabeemer blog spot...
Onward I surffed...to IBMWR for used bikes, because I can never have too many bikes.....spent some private, lusting moments thinking of dirt.
Impulsively I took a quick hop over to the Ducati website just for some nasty pleasure.

It made me feel gooooood.

But now I am back again...Jones'n !

I got just what you guys need. A nice little road trip.

Leaving my house (south of Melbourne Florida) on Weds, Jan 9th. riding the back roads down around Lake Okeechobee, continuing south to Marathon Florida in the Florida Keys.(275 mile-8 hours) Thursday, a ride down to Key West for lunch and sightseeing, plus sightseeing stops on Big Pine Key, Bahia Honda and any place else that looks good.

On either Weds or Thurs evening we'll hike two miles out on the old Seven Mile Bridge and back. This is the original bridge for the old Overseas Railroad that was destroyed by Hurricane in 1935.

Pull out Friday AM Jan 11th, back in Melbourne Friday PM.

I can help with details on this end, all you gotta do is get here. :) Bike rentals are available in Melbourne.

Sure, go ahead, rub salt into the wound. :(

So, my wife saw the poetry... She looks at me and says, "You have a problem!".

No kidding...

Forgive me Father, for I have ridden.

Forgive me father, for I have ridden. It has been a long time since my last confession.

I rode today.
I rode yesterday and went here, it has been paved since I was there several years ago.
I rode the day before.
I will probably ride tomorrow.

I can't find my Rosary.
I'm not even Catholic.

Why should something that makes me so happy be so bad?

Tells me you don't live near Chicago... it was 19 degrees this morning...

I've realized that our cat and I are very similar. Our cat loves treats, and he loves to go outside, so he's always sitting either staring at the fridge door... (like he was a bad puddy cat and we made him sit in the corner) or he's sitting staring out the window. Sometimes he'll walk across the floor and just stop in mid step and stare at nothing. He can't have a treat, he can't go outside... so he just stares. Every now and then he just sneaks up on our other cat, bits him in the ass, and starts a fight... I haven't resorted to starting fights yet, though my wife may disagree with my statement... maybe I should bite my wife in the ass and see what happens...

I took a ride a few days past.
'Twas cold and gray, the roads were wet.
The sun was hidden behind dark clouds.
The fields were brown and the trees were bare.
It was a ride in no manner great.
At least I did 128. :D
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...
